Ate here a few times with mixed feelings. Crab rangoons are delicious, the kung pao chicken was good, sweet n sour is terrible. DONT get their breaded chicken. I had one bite with RED MEAT 😞 idk what was in it or if it was bad meat but I had a very painful knot in my stomach followed by 2 days of severe hiccups after the sesame chicken. The non breaded chicken sits well though. Pricing is fair for the quality and plenty of quantity. Interior used to have boxes everywhere but it's getting cleaned up.

I ordered from the New Peking in November 2024. My first impression was the all too common older restaurant that really needs an update, or at least some work.
You order from behind a plastic window that separates the kitchen and counter area from what is considered a dining room. There are a good amount of booths, it’s very dark, and as earlier stated, needs work.
I ordered the General special. That came with fried rice, soup and an egg roll. I think it was about $13. I feel that was a pretty fair price considering. I also grabbed two cans of soda for another $3. Although I didn’t need the second can, my total for dinner was only about $16 total.
The food itself was okay. It wasn’t bad, but I definitely have had much better. But it did the job. I couldn’t eat it all. It wasn’t bad to eat. And it was pretty cost effective.
I was only visiting the area and will not become a regular customer. But if back in the area, I would consider New Peking again. It’s not the best I’ve had. But is far from the worst. Like I said, it did the job.

Have ordered from here many times and usually been pleased. Tonight, the sesame chicken is mainly just overfried fry bits containing little to no chicken!

Had the sweet and sour chicken. The sauce had no sour to it, extremely sweet. The breading on the chicken was unlike any I have ever had. The taste very strange. I don't know what they put inside as far as "chicken". One star is being generous. Yuck.

One of the only decent Chinese food restaurants in town. Good food, very reasonably prices, and fast. Restaurant is very dark, but it's an excellent take out option.

This place has the best tofu I’ve found around Charleston. Perfectly crispy and flavorful. Tons of options for vegetarians!

This restaurant is the only Chinese restaurant conveniently located handful of blocks north of Calhoun Street. I've only gotten pickups, but I live 1½ blocks away yet its dining area seems pleasant. They're consistently not open on Tuesdays.

Wheelchair accessibility: Its entrance is completely ground level & seating inside could easily accommodate a wheelchair.

I get take out with DD, from New Peking. I love their spring rolls and the sesame chicken. It's always fresh and the flavors are consistent.
