Visited on our anniversary. First, let me say, David our server was excellent. Hostess and staff were all exceptional. Again, David was excellent. Now the meal. The bread, House and Caesar salads, mash potatoes were all very good, steak was tender and delouses, but only if you are incline to prefer a slightly charred flavor. Mac & cheese had a stronger smoked flavor, which was not expected. It was good, but not preferred by my wife or myself. My wife truly enjoyed her two cocktails. I had one domestic beer. Then we both had unsweetened tea. No dessert or coffee. The total was $240 ( $238.??) I tipped $80 ($320 Total) due to the excellent service. I do not want to deter anyone from trying this establishment. The meal was very good. It may be I am spoiled. I live in NJ, and frequently go to one of the top 100 restaurants in the country. It is also a well established Steak and Seafood restaurant, with an exceptional rating on Open Table. For comparison purpose, at the NJ establishment a comparable meal for my wife and I, would include two drinks, appetizer, sides, salad, dessert, and cappuccinos or coffee, costing no more than $200, plus tip. While cost is not a factor, I will probably try a different steak and seafood establishment the next time we are in Charleston SC. FYI, I stayed at The Bennett Hotel. So again, cost is not a factor.
We enjoyed the restaurant week menu and everything was delicious! Steak was cooked to perfection, as were the veggies. Our server, Ryan, was outstanding and the whole staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend
Wonderful staff! No room for standing and difficult door to open but food and people were on point! Loved our waiter and so thankful to Rose for fixing our reservation.
It's good, our waiter was great but the guy that brought the food was just ok. I want them to bring the food all at the same time and set it down in front of everyone together. That's what I expect from an upscale steakhouse.
We were seated upstairs in a room with 4 tables, so it was very cozy and a great setting for friends to have a great dinner with great service. We did take advantage of restaurant week specials, so we had an extra affordable meal, but no reduction in flavor or service.
Oak Steakhouse has great food and service. Our waiter was excellent and our steaks were perfectly prepared.
Great place. Some restaurants surprise you to the good or bad. Oak's strength is it's consistency. I haven't eaten there often and probably get the same thing every time. But if I'm wanting a steak and spinach I know it will be perfect.
It's not cheap but if it was you wouldn't want it. I will point out that a glass of wine was around $25. A bit pricey. Had it been $19, I would have had another. But pricing is their decision.
Neighbood was very dark outside. Parking kind of hard. Felt safe walking 2 blocks in the dark but a little light would have made the sidewalks and streets easier to navigate.
For a special occasion for a meat eater, it's perfect.
Not sure what a vegetarian would have. Toast I guess.

The filet, mashed potatos, crab butter, and truffle butter were beyond yummy. Steaks perfectly cooked. We sat on the 2nd level ans overlooked the hostess stand. Speaking of hostess, our table wasn't ready for 20 min after arrival. She wasn't apologetic. There were 2 open tables downstairs that we got kicked off of by her as they were reserved. Needless to say, they were unoccupied the entire time. On a positive note, our server was a sweetie. Wish I could remember his name but very attentive.

Outstanding service, delicious food in a very romantic but chilly(temperatur) place. We loved it and had lamb shank and steak fries.

Fantastic attentive service. Loved that we didn't have to wait long for our wine or entrees. Ryan, our waiter even laughed at my Dad Jokes with no eye rolling. Ribeye was seasoned and grilled to perfection.

Very great food, it is expensive but worth it for the expensive steak dinner experience. Very cozy atmosphere and good wine.

One of the blandest meals I've ever had. Grouper was over cooked. The sides had no flavor. Steak was chewy. We love o-ku. We are very disappointed with their parent restaurant, Oak.

Our server, Stefano, was lovely. He was prompt and attentive without being pushy, and knew the menu well. This has been a family favorite for years when we visit Charleston.
