The food was absolutely amazing! I had the 8 oz petit filet, Brussel sprouts, and whipped mashed potatoes.
From Australia to Charleston, I have NEVER seen some one as disrespectful as the waiter at Pennisula Grill. He stared down my dates dress the entire time until he knocked a full glass of water in my lap for not paying attention due to staring at her. I was soaked. From then I asked for the manager as the waiter sat away from the table laughing and being inconsiderate still staring at her... long story short, nothing was compensated for, neither an apology. I've had better service at McDonald's.
Food was considerably over salted. We ordered two of the same steaks med-rare, but one was med-well. Both were over salted. Management agreed and even stated they'd heard the same complaint from several patrons. However, nothing was done to improve or resolve the issue!! Bartender Corey was fantastic, as he always is.
We had heard so much about this place, especially the coconut cake. We sent the fish special back because it was over cooked. The steak was fine but the risotto was salty. The coconut cake was a disappointment, very dry. Almost like it had been frozen. Dirty dishes sat in front of us for a very long time. We have eaten some terrific food here in Charleston but this was very disappointing.
Staff wonderful food was cold. There got thanksgiving, 135 dollars each good was cold, will not be returning!!! Was very disappointed.
An elegant room with friendly efficient staff and good service. We had our Thanksgiving dinner at the Peninsula Grill and given the occasion and how busy the restaurant was, they performed very well indeed. For Thanksgiving they had a set menu with plenty of choice. All tasty and very nicely presented. It is a worth a visit for its elegance and old world charm; but do not stay at the Planters Inn (see separate review).
The Grill is a classic, upscale fine dining venue that never fails to impress. We enjoyed service by Bradley seated in the bar area booth. Hubby enjoyed a fine prime bone in fillet perfectly prepared. He had 6 fresh oysters to start—3 local oysters and 3 Blue point which he declared tender and perfectly brined. I opted for the nightly fish special—a lovely pan seared wreckfish (related to the grouper family) served with tender carrots and celery root. I enjoyed a baby lettuce salad with goat cheese and champagne poached pears. Service was impeccable and we highly recommend The Peninsula Grill any time you can get there!
The food was decent. We had a bone in fillet as well as brussels sprouts and warm potato salad. All were good, our steak came rare when we ordered it medium. We had to ask for bread when they were serving it to all the other tables, but not ours. We were celebrating a birthday, and there was only an acknowledgment at the beginning of the reservation but nothing else. The worst part of the reservation is it is probably 60° in the restaurant. We had to move tables twice and they offered us a shawl to put on and I noticed many other tables moving and requesting shawls. For some reason, they cannot adjust the air conditioning... we would not eat here again due to this fact.
Excellent service and the food was incredible. Everyone dish was delicious and timing of all the food was perfect. Wine suggestions were great too.
Food was overly salty. It took a really long time to receive our dinner which was not hot. Not pleased.

From our greeting and seating to charming and knowledgeable server “Adam” to the scrumptious starters, entrees and sides topped off by the famous coconut cake, it was the perfect way to spend a milestone anniversary evening!
It's a nice place but the food underwhelmed. Baked oysters were small and not fully cooked. My steak was good but my wife's was undercooked and part of it could not be eaten. She orders MR all the time but this was cold in the middle.
Great menu. And amazing attentive staff. Stephanie was awesome. We really enjoyed the fish special.
Excellent restaurant. Food was good, place looked beautiful, service was immaculate. Would recommend to everyone.
It was a lovely experience. Unfortunately a group of 12 Harvard alumni chose our night to get together. Their noise level made it difficult to talk. It was a special occasion for me and our waitress was exemplary. The food was excellent, but seemed just too pricey to return when there are so many restaurants in Charleston to choose from. I would recommend it for a special event, but could not afford to go there often
