I host a dinner here every year with colleagues at the Charleston Conference. It has become our favorite spot and an annual tradition.
Food was fantastic. Our server was attentive, knowledgable, kind, and fun. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.
Food was great. Service just so, so. Waiter was inattentive. Busing of table was slow. Overall our table enjoyed themselves. It was our first visit.
Absolutely loved the food! We had the Buffalo fried chicken sandwich and the chiliquilles with a side of bacon and biscuits. Phenomenal! Place was completely decorated for Halloween inside which was very cool vibe.
With a name like Prohibition we were expecting 1930s era decor, but we walked into a restaurant decorated floor to ceiling in Halloween decor. Nothing wrong with that, but it was a bit much. Very ghoulish. The things that saved us from walking out were our wonderful waiter (Grady/Brady) and the food was delicious.
We ordered 5 appetisers and 1 entree. We had the mussels, deviled eggs, chicken liver, bone marrow, beef tartare and the fried chicken. All were very good. Dessert was okay, apple pie crumble was on the sweet side. My daughter asked for 2 mocktails which weren't on the menu, and they were very good too. We chose to be seated outside which was quieter.
We went for brunch Saturday. Breakfast potatoes excellent. Breakfast sandwich was good, but not great. The croissant was a bit on the stale side. Sausage was good. Omelet was yummy. They sat 3 of us a a two person table on a corner, so it was cozy but not super comfortable. Service was good. The building and space was really cool and our favorite part. A bit overpriced for breakfast foods.
My friends and partner and I went to Prohibition this past Saturday. It was pouring rain so while parking across the street was the most desirable option- it WAS close and convenient.
Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted and told that there was only outdoor seating available unless we wanted to wait a little while so we opted for the patio. It was covered so that was good. The reason I gave a 4 star rating is because I thought the manager could have opted to turn on a couple heaters being that it was a bit chilly with it raining and the wind was blowing a bit. Luckily we had jackets so that helped.
On to the dining experience- this place has several small plate options which I’m not always crazy about due to portion sizes but the items were ordered were sufficient and we were all able to share with each other.
My partner got the tomato bisque soup w/ grilled cheese and while it’s such a simple option- it was perfect and exactly what she needed to warm her up a bit. The soup was creamy and rich and the grilled cheese was crust less and had a good cheese pull. My only complaint would be that the grilled cheese could have been a little bigger.
I ordered the brussel sprouts which were great. They were nice and crispy and flavorful. One of my friends ordered the baked oysters- my issue with this dish is that it only came w/ 3 and they weren’t that big- also, I never understood why restaurants don’t do appetizers like that in even numbers. The oysters were cooked perfectly and tasted great and they had a good creaminess from the cheese.
The MVP of the night was the bone marrow- I had never had it before and was very hesitant to try it…until I saw it. I tried it and it was amazing! So good in fact that we ordered a 2nd order. The bone marrow was like a rich butter and the meat (I think was brisket?) that topped it was amazing as well- it was sweet and savory.
We had 3 old fashioned cocktails and an espresso martini w/ an added shot of baileys which was fantastic! We’ll be back again for sure!

I travel ALOT and I don’t mind spending money on good food and drinks , but last night I paid $18.50 for this Tito’s & redbull and I’ve never complained about pricing ever till now , it was that strong either , no nice glass , no personality or conversation from the bartender . 0 . Nothing . The picture actually makes the glass look bigger than it was . It was one of those tiny plastic cups . Like you were getting water out of a jug at a football practice . Super cute inside and ceiling though
Old Fashioned has a suave peach twist and the Margarita Fuego was EXCELLENT: Blanco tequila, lime, Cointreau, chipotle, mango, and jalapeno - not too spicy and the mango to help curb the zip.
This place is packed. We had to gravitate to the back patio bar. My main qualm was waiting over 10 minutes to order while sitting at the bar. Bachelorette parties standing over my shoulder kept getting the go ahead to order. I was about to leave had I been skipped over one more time.
Also, with the name Prohibition I was expecting more 30's speakeasy aesthetics and decor... but it felt more like the stereotypical modern rustic craft cocktail bar. Not worth frequenting if that's your selling point in question.
Overall, decent cocktails, some with a minor twist. The place seemed like it sponsored bachelorette parties with the amount of coordinated costumes & celebratory groups in there. Must be a prime spot to go out with your friends, not as much for an intimate outing.

Everything was amazing!! The Brussel sprouts were the best we've ever had, deviled eggs were super and the entrees were so good! Shrimp and grits OUTSTANDING! Hangar SO juicy and tender! Our service was great! Kyle was excellent and attentive! Very cool ambience:) I would go again and I HIGHLY recommend 😊
We thought the ambiance looked cool from the outside. The cocktails were mediocre and the food, though tasty, was overpriced.
Always consistency fabulous! Every time we are in Charleston we have to eat here. Theirs are the only shrimp and grits I love. All others pale in comparison. The drinks are creative and so well balanced. Great service too.
