We rented a house a block away and needed shrimp for our dinner. At 2:30pm on a Friday, the place was pretty much deserted and not much to see. The man working the register was friendly and fast. We got our 6lbs of shrimp at $9.99/lb, on ice, and didn't have to drive anywhere, so I consider it a win. Shrimp were good sized and fresh.
I called around Charleston to reserve a couple of bushels of blue crabs for a party the following weekend and to my chagrin was told repeatedly that this was a bad year for blue crabs and that bushels couldn't be had or that I would have to wait and see what was available the day of the party. After about a half dozen phone calls I spoke with Shawn at Seafood Alley. He stated that he could provide as many bushels as I wanted. The fresh seafood is second to none! And the Seafood Alley staff are the friendliest, most helpful and knowledgeable about their products! We bought fresh red snapper (which they expertly cleaned and filleted for us!), and the best fresh shrimp of anyplace in Charleston!
