Food was great and easily family-sharable, service was prompt and professional. Cocktails were tasty.

Small place. Dedicated chefs. The cheese cake was inventive. Radish dish was creative. Cocktails were nice. Tuna was perfect but bolognese was so peppery i couldn't eat it. Very pricey.

Great dining experience. We tried 5 of their Veg starters and two desserts. The portions were reasonably sized and hence manageable. I must say that the dishes were very well made and presented. What stood was the blend of different flavors that hit your palette. Kudos to the chef.

We really loved it from all aspects! Food was fab! Endive salad was a great shareable starter! The carrot bolanese and tuna with grilled peaches were both phenomenal! Chocolate birthday cake was delicious too! We weren't sure about the pistachio smear on the plate with the cake...but we loved the flavor of it separately! Best part? We felt really GOOD after having this clean, healthy meal! We will be back!

Our waitress was attentive with giving plenty of time for us to enjoy our meal. She was very knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. She explained the process of small plates and ordering. Food was delicious and the drink was amazing!

Sorghum & Salt has multiple outstanding vegetarian options along with omnivore options - an absolute delight as it is not very easy to find top level vegetarian offerings, even in Charleston.

A must if you’re in Charleston! Sit at the bar and let Chris make a drink or two with his mixology skills and just order and eat ! A true pallet experience!!!

The food is delicious and incredibly innovative. I’ve been >20x since they’ve opened and I am continually impressed. We bring visitors and foodie friends here when we want to blow their minds. I can’t rave enough about it.

It was good. Unfortunately, just good. We visited the previous location once in the past and it was excellent. We were excited to try the new one.
Atmosphere was nice, service was ok, food was, well, just good. For the portion sizes (mini), the price for what you get (very high), and creativity, our expectations were not met.
A seared tuna entree that is freezing cold, a swordfish that was very dry, and a ‘wagyu’ beef that was also very cold, it was simply disappointing.
As for the appetizers (4), the beets are not the same. They were cut up way too small and inside of a ‘tart’ that was so tiny. Ricotta seemed to be the same and good. Beans were atop the same bread but again, portion size was just miniscule. Lastly, the watermelon. Very tasty and well presented. But again, for the price, it’s just not worth it.
In all fairness, they were busy on a Tuesday night. Very few servers and it appeared there were only 3 people in the kitchen.
Maybe more staff? Increase portion sizes to avoid being hungry after dinner.

Edit: 1st posted 2 years ago. They have since moved and I can’t wait to try the new spot…

***TOP TEN ALERT*** Do the tasting menu, trust Chef Tres, and you're in for an amazing culinary experience! Plates that I would probably never order open new dimensions of taste. Description is futile, just trust the process and you won't be disappointed. Ok, not having the 40oz Miller Hi-Life's was a disappointment, but that's my own personal nostalgia talking. There are plenty of quality beer options and the wine pairings are perfect! This spot should be on every adventurous foodie's must try list and is my first official Top Ten Alert!

Great location, nice corner neighborhood restaurant, friendly atmosphere. What shines brightest is the food. The best cauliflower I've ever had. Best tuna I've ever had. Delicious cooked carrots dish. Also a very fresh and tasty watermelon dish. I'll be recommending this restaurant to friends visiting Charleston.
