S&S has a new location. And it is Great! We enjoyed the radishes, whipped ricotta, heirloom tomatoes, tuna, and gnocchi! And we topped it off with cheese cake. Amazing. AND, hear this, they now offer COCKTAILS! Bonus!!!

The food is delicious and incredibly innovative. I’ve been >20x since they’ve opened and I am continually impressed. We bring visitors and foodie friends here when we want to blow their minds. I can’t rave enough about it.

It was good. Unfortunately, just good. We visited the previous location once in the past and it was excellent. We were excited to try the new one.
Atmosphere was nice, service was ok, food was, well, just good. For the portion sizes (mini), the price for what you get (very high), and creativity, our expectations were not met.
A seared tuna entree that is freezing cold, a swordfish that was very dry, and a ‘wagyu’ beef that was also very cold, it was simply disappointing.
As for the appetizers (4), the beets are not the same. They were cut up way too small and inside of a ‘tart’ that was so tiny. Ricotta seemed to be the same and good. Beans were atop the same bread but again, portion size was just miniscule. Lastly, the watermelon. Very tasty and well presented. But again, for the price, it’s just not worth it.
In all fairness, they were busy on a Tuesday night. Very few servers and it appeared there were only 3 people in the kitchen.
Maybe more staff? Increase portion sizes to avoid being hungry after dinner.

Edit: 1st posted 2 years ago. They have since moved and I can’t wait to try the new spot…

***TOP TEN ALERT*** Do the tasting menu, trust Chef Tres, and you're in for an amazing culinary experience! Plates that I would probably never order open new dimensions of taste. Description is futile, just trust the process and you won't be disappointed. Ok, not having the 40oz Miller Hi-Life's was a disappointment, but that's my own personal nostalgia talking. There are plenty of quality beer options and the wine pairings are perfect! This spot should be on every adventurous foodie's must try list and is my first official Top Ten Alert!

Great location, nice corner neighborhood restaurant, friendly atmosphere. What shines brightest is the food. The best cauliflower I've ever had. Best tuna I've ever had. Delicious cooked carrots dish. Also a very fresh and tasty watermelon dish. I'll be recommending this restaurant to friends visiting Charleston.

Fantastic! We actually had reservations at another restaurant and happened to see this on our drive and wanted to check it out. We saw the menu and it sounded amazing so we set a reservation for Sorghum and Salt. BEST DECISION. We had a darling table by the window tucked in the corner. If you are cold natured there is a vent here so bring a jacket but I am super hot natured so it was a perfect spot for me. Everything was wonderful. It was like 1,000 degrees the day we went so starting with the cold Gem Salad and watermelon salad. They were both amazing and nice and cool. We loved the Cauliflower, Tuna and Carrots as well. We also loved the water options. When we sat down and asked for water, the waiter offered, tap, filtered and sparkling. We didn't know till the end the sparkling was an additional fee. The ambience was great. This is a new renovated location and was very classic and clean. I will say the bathroom was a hoot. I'll leave it at that. Worth a trip before you go. They even had mouthwash for you. Everything was wonderful. Will be going back for sure!

Very underwhelming experience - food was overall pretty good but the price was steep. To command those prices you either need to provide appropriately sized dishes or really be hitting that excellent level of top Charleston restaurants, which was not the case here. We were informed that plates were small and the recommendation was to order a couple, but pricing did not reflect that - each small plate was priced as a full main. Cocktails were decent but on the weaker side.

The service was what really put me off - our waitress acted like we were an inconvenience and was generally uptight, which does not make for a comfortable dining experience. You can also only split checks into equal parts if you have a party of 6 or more (this does feel like particularly lazy customer service) and a 20% tip is included for 6 or more (I felt this was fair enough, but we were not a 6 and there was still 20% included on our checks - not really impressed by that especially given the poor service). Overall it was a good enough meal, but definitely would not return.
