Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! From start to finish was an A+!!! Our waiter James was amazing, the hostess was wonderful and the manager were all top notch! One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had!

Out of this world. If you are looking for the best spot in Charleston for a wonderful dinner with your partner, this is the only option. The varied dining locations provide plenty of reason to go back for round 2 as well. All of the staff are super professional and knowledgeable. We were greeted with champagne, a rose, and a card since it was our first anniversary. We dined on the back patio which was nice and secluded with only three tables. Every course was top notch and we paired it with a different one of their phenomenal cocktails for each.Seriously this place can't be beat. Stay at 86 Cannon and go here for as many meals as you can.

We celebrate every big event here. Truly our favorite restaurant in town. There’s so many great restaurants in town but we time and time again choose Southbound. The service is always great and the changing menu is always loaded with great options. Food never disappoints

Atmosphere, drinks and service was great. But they served raw chicken. (Look at the picture for yourself). Waiter took it back and tried to recook it. I was too nauseated to consider eating it a second time… I’m pretty surprised they didn’t refund that and I’m thankful I haven’t started throwing up yet!

My daughter and I came here for a girls night out, with high expectations. Parking is street parking which is horrific but that’s typical for Charleston. The pork rillette tasted like tuna fish, and came with four small pieces of toasted bread. The crabcake dumplings were tiny little dumplings with small pieces of crab in the broth, with nothing really to dip into the broth and so we asked for additional bread which came after the waiter took away the broth. The steak tartare was very disappointing, trying to be creative, small pieces of potato chip was mixed in with the ground tartar, which was more like eating raw hamburger, and the little chips were the size of fingernails. Extremely disappointed, I feel the chef is trying too hard to be different when sometimes the classic should be left alone. The ribeye was tasty but $56 for a ribeye with nothing accompanying it, so we ordered the potatoes with the eggs that were left in the coals overnight. Short of mayonnaise it was potato salad. We were so excited and heard such great things, but we were very disappointed and will not return and would not recommend. Too many other options in Charleston although the atmosphere is really cute, it’s a nice little house and outdoor seating would be nice if the temperature allows! Maybe go for drinks and find a different appetizer to share.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Southbound during our trip to Charleston. We showed up on Easter Sunday with a party of 7 without a reservation, and the wonderful manager Joel was able to accommodate us on their beautiful patio. Our server Emily took such good care of us, and provided us with bug spray, blankets, and exceptional recommendations. The food and drinks were some of the best we've had in years. Many thanks to the wonderful folks at Southbound for providing us with a memorable and wonderful dinner experience.

We paid over $1,000 for dinner that was not good at all. The caliber of food served at this restaurant is not up to par for the price point, and we've eaten at plenty of Michelin-rated restaurants and consider ourselves foodies. The food was super salty and several people in our party didn't even end up eating their dishes because they didn't like them. The chicken was red and tough to cut. The ribeye steaks (ordered a few) were extremely fatty (we know ribeyes are fatty but this was a lot) and had little meat to actually eat. My FIL asked for his to be cooked well and it was brought out medium. The small potatoes (with egg thrown over them) were hard, and not appetizing at all. The duck was fatty and didn't taste good at all. The trout was not good. Lastly the desserts (specifically the chocolate mouse) was not enjoyable (salty again) and mostly left uneaten. We had young adults in our party who were starving and couldn't find an appetizer to start with and asked for bread. The server told us they don't do bread service but was able to manage to get two pieces of dark toasted bread. When the young ladies asked for butter, she said they don't do that because they don't do bread service, but ended up bringing butter for the other table (very confusing). We don't appreciate the ego (of doing this or not doing that). We are a large party of paying customers and not everyone's tastes are the same. I didn't feel like a request for bread/butter is one that is too great. In terms of atmosphere, if you like smelling smoke, you will love it here. The whole restaurant (house) both upstairs and downstairs smelled of smoke from the kitchen, which felt think at times. All the windows in the restaurant were open I'm guessing for that reason. For a place like this to be rated as a top restaurant in Charleston in mind blowing. After speaking with a manager at the restaurant about some of the food issues, I feel like he chaulked it all up to the restaurant "not being a good fit" and suggested we try another more causal restaurant in their chain (what a slap in the face). I agree with the part about the restaurant not being good. We will not be returning ever to this restaurant or any of its chains. Caution, this place feels like a hit and a miss.

Amazing dinner. This place is worthy of a Michelin star IMHO. Everything is cooked over a wood fire and the flavors and quality were amazing. We had trout, mahi, chicken and steak and all were exceptional. The side dishes were amazing.... Best roasted carrots we ever tried.... Even the people who don't like cooked carrots thought they were great. This is a true fine dining experience.
