The outdoor seating created such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere — perfect for enjoying Charleston’s beautiful weather. The food was full of flavor, and every dish was cooked to perfection.

The service was just as impressive —friendly, and made us feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food, great people, and a great setting, but this one does it all. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a wonderful outdoor dining spot in Charleston!

Food was okay we were disappointed in the House salad. It was just lettuce thrown bowl.Nothing else , no tomatoes carrots nothing just Open the bag of salad and threw it in a bowl

We stopped in for lunch and it did not disappoint. I ordered the French Dip with a local beer, and my wife got the Reuben. Both were fantastic—great flavor, quality ingredients, and generous portions.

Our server was excellent—friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of the food. When my wife asked about their homemade dressings, he brought her extra dips so she could try them all. That little touch made the whole experience even better.

If you’re in Charleston and want great food with even better service, Berkley’s is worth the stop!

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and had an amazing Thursday lunch at Berkeley’s. The sandwiches here made it such a tough decision on what to order because everything looked so good! The place was absolutely packed, even outside right after it had rained, which says a lot about how popular and loved it is. Our server, we think her name was Casey, was incredible. She was handling what looked like ten or more tables at once and still gave us the best service we could have asked for. Our water glasses were NEVER empty, and she was so kind and apologetic about a short wait for our sweet teas, which she even took off the bill even though it was completely unnecessary. She truly knows how to serve with skill, grace, and professionalism. When we couldn’t decide what to order, she recommended the cheesesteak, and it was the perfect choice. It was gooey, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Before that, we shared the smoked salmon dip, which is a must-get appetizer and one of the best things we had in Charleston. She even split our cheesesteak on two separate plates without us asking, which was such a thoughtful touch. The chips were amazing too, especially with a little mayo on the side. Everything about Berkeley’s impressed us!!!!!!!!! The food, the atmosphere, and especially the hardworking and genuinely kind people who make it all happen. The hospitality shines here, and it’s easy to see why this place is always packed. THIS PLACE IS A 20,000/10!

Great food with the nicest staff! Love Berks so much! Eaten here at least 20 times and the food is consistently incredible. Take out, lunch, dinner—they kill it. Highly recommend checking out their other restaurant the Archer as well!

Debbie and I finally got to check this place out downtown which we pass by frequently. We tried their hummus, beet salad and the French dip sandwich and we were not disappointed. They have lots of cool things on the menu and even a frozen sangria machine with white and red sangria which we sampled :) Try the combo. The service was top-notch also. Highly recommend.

Berkeley’s has become one of my absolute favorites in Downtown Charleston. It’s got that easy neighborhood feel, great food, friendly staff, and a menu that always hits. Their cheesesteak with Whiz and fries is my go-to order every time, and it never disappoints.

The atmosphere is exactly what makes 29401 so special: laid-back but full of energy, where locals mix with visitors and everyone feels at home.

As someone who lives and works downtown, I love sharing spots like Berkeley’s with clients who are getting to know the real Charleston walkable streets, great food, and a sense of community that’s hard to beat.

If you’re exploring 29401 or thinking about making Charleston home, make sure you grab a cheesesteak and see what the locals already know.

I went to the restaurant with my wife highly recommended from the doctors and nurses at MUSC children's hospital. Parking was horrible that's only five or so parking spaces across the street from the restaurant. Drove around the block looking for any place to park.
I ordered the barbecue sandwich which was the chef's selection of the day. It was not very good. The meat quality was good. And the portions were good. But it didn't seem to be smoked, that's what was missing.
My wife ordered the French dip and she said it was bland.
Overall it is very expensive with not very good food so I can't recommend it.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We were visiting Charleston for the weekend and stopped in on a Saturday morning. We had to wait about half an hour and it was entirely worth the wait. Staff were friendly and the food was even better! All four of us enjoyed our meals on the back patio! (Added bonus — ranch is phenomenal) Definitely would recommend if you are ever in the area!

My husband ordered the eggplant parm and LOVED it. I ordered the salmon BLT and was not a fan. The service was great though and I love a restaurant with outdoor seating !!!

Great food (we couldn’t try it all so we will be back) but the chicken cutlet was great!! Fried artichokes were also amazing. Cool setting esp with the weather getting better. Totally worth a brunch visit.

Went here for the first time last night. It was busy but we were able to snag seats at the bar. Mia the bartender was super friendly. We shared a caesar salad with shrimp and meat meatballs. Ask to have the shrimp blackened, so delicious. The bar over looks the open air patio. Great spot!

The water was the worst tasting water (Is it even safe to drink?) Ordered “fresh squeezed” OJ, tasted terrible. Unusual because my whole life I’ve never had a bad glass. Oh well, there’s always a first time. Turkey sandwich was nothing I couldn’t make in my own kitchen, way over priced for what it was. Chips were awful and dry. Cheesesteaks were okay, Jimmy Johns makes a much better cheesesteak for 1/2 the price. I would never go back.
