It’s a lively and relaxing place to hear live music. We went on a less busy day and hung out by the bar. Drinks are well made and reasonably priced. Small dance floor available if you don’t want to just sit around. Everyone we met that night was friendly.

Great music, customer service not so great, specifically from the male bouncers; the establishment closes earlier than listed, the bouncers practically push you out the door

So Inwas in Charleston to hang out withy sister there for a conference. On a Tuesday nite, we finnished dinner early and wanted some music. Found this and thought why not as there was literally nothing else going on. We got there early... proper early... we were the only ones there. Met Dan and Nick, hit it off good, and the fun began! Them boys are awesome and made us feel welcome af. Band showed up and SMASHED IT!!! point is this is a true GEM! One for the books!

A prerequisite to pay $40 or $45 per person,... in order to be able to walk in and order a cocktail and listen to a musician or band you've never heard of before. No thanks,......if that's your "Standard of Excellence",....you've got some soul searching to do.
Solid house band!

Good place for live music. Drinks and especially draft beer overpriced. $13 for a Miller Lite? Otherwise a hip joint.

Bachelorette Party!
We had an amazing time at The Commodore during my bachelorette party in Charleston! From the moment we walked in, the staff was super friendly, and we headed straight to the bar. The bartenders were on point—got all 10 of our drinks ready in under 10 minutes! The drinks were strong and definitely not watered down, which we loved.
We danced all night to the live band, and it was such a good vibe... until two of the ladies in our group went to the restroom. Unfortunately, the restroom attendant (an African-American guy) was really rude and told them they were "taking too long." They were just using the bathroom and fixing their outfits, so it was surprising. When they tried explaining, he got aggressive, and then another employee (also African-American) even pushed one of them.
That was a huge buzzkill, so we ended up leaving and going to Henry’s. We still had fun at Henry's, but honestly, The Commodore was way more fun! Hopefully, they’ll get the staffing situation sorted because we’d love to come back for my birthday next year.

I went to the Commodore last night for the first time after hearing many recommendations from friends in NYC. The band was amazing and Nick and Dylan behind the bar took such great care of me. They were so warm and welcoming. Sapa on the door was also very friendly and as a solo female, I felt really safe. Thank you for such a great experience, it made my trip to Charleston!
