My husband and I went to visit Charleston on 10-23-25 for my birthday. On our last day we wanted to visit The Market in downtown Charleston to get a few goodies to take home. I am a sugar connoisseur so I had to visit the fudge shop (The Fudgery). We got there at 10 am which was the time listed on the door that they opened. It was 10:30ish before they opened the doors. No im sorry we are running late or sorry you had to wait. She just opened the door.
While inside we saw these large deep trays filled with fist size Caramel Pecan pralines. They looked like they would be the best pralines you ever ate!! So we got 3 and got one free. The whole pecan halves were huge! I was so excited to try them and give one to my children when we got home. Let me say that they were horrible! It was like pecans and brown sugar and white sugar rolled into a ball. It crumbled into pieces when you bit into it. It had not been cooked or anything. It was horrible. The pecans still had some of the bitter shell that gets inside the cracks of the pecan when you shell them. They were just gross! And they cost $12.99 each!! We also got You need to got 2 slabs of their fudge. One was the vanilla pecan and the other was the maple pecan. The vanilla one was so hard and just tasted really old. The maple one was very greasy. I have never had fudge that looked or tasted the way that did.
Last we got 2 caramel apples. $10.99 each! The caramel was a very dark brown color and had a thick grainy texture to it. It also had specks of darker brown all through out it. Which I thought could be chocolate pieces. It wasn’t chocolate it tasted like coffee! The apples were soft not crisp and fresh. One of the apples was covered in Bruises!
The total for our purchase was $75. And some change. Our experience here was one of the worst we have EVER had. I would not ever go back there again. I would not recommend anyone going there either! Don’t waste your time and sugar craving on an awful product.
Best pecan caramel apple I've ever had in my life!!!!
Ice cream was lovely and the service was even better, Kyle was so kind and accommodating!!!
Sweet and too rich for my liking
The staff was friendly and the ice cream was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the Cherry Amaretto ice cream!!!
Eh, the ice cream wasn't the best on this day, but they did give a huge amount.

Charming fudge & ice cream shop—delicious but could be fresher
Ambiance & Service:
This sweet spot in downtown Charleston is inviting, with a whimsical candy-shop vibe and the bonus of watching fudge made right in front of you. Staff are friendly and offer samples, making each visit feel warm and interactive .
Treat Quality & Selection:
They offer a solid variety—hand-turned fudge, ice cream, caramel apples, shakes, and more. Ice cream flavors like banana pudding get rave reviews, and the fudge is overall rich and satisfying . Milkshakes also get thumbs-up for creamy flavor .
Why 4 Stars, Not 5:
Some items—particularly fudge slices or caramel apples—aren’t always as fresh or creamy as expected. A few reviewers mention dryness or hard edges, hinting at inconsistent freshness
Granted the fudge is excellent, there's no doubt about it,but when you advertise 11.99 for a 1/2lb I expect it to be rite on or just a hare over, but on my most recent visit 11.99 turned into 16 bucks and change, I asked the clerk whats going on and I get well its over a 1/2lb.
I said well then please trim it to a 1/2lb or close, the response ...sorry can't do that, and while we're at it how comes your scales don't face the customer when your weighing out,are you hiding something 🤔.
Delicious ice cream 🍨 the strawberry cheesecake ice cream was my favorite
First time in Charleston! Delicious ice cream. I wanted to leave a review because we loved the young boy who was working there last night. He was so nice and kind. He may remember me, I am the Argentinian girl :) he is great for this business! Keep going what you are doing!

I was very disappointed on my visit on 3/8/25..been going to the Fudgery since 1983 and have not been in the last 11 years because I moved. Always got the walnut maple fudge..and on the this day it was awful!! It had a burnt flavor, the texture was course instead of creamy like it use to be. It has always been a light cream colored fudge but this was the color of a dark brown …it was awful! I would not complain if this fudge was a 2-$3 fudge but that dang slab was $13! They use to sell it by either half a pound or a pound.. now you can only get a pound. I was so displeased. I sent a complaint to main office and got no response!
I loved the posters and the fudge / ice cream. The frozen lemonade had no sugar and is bitter which made it taste horrible. We definitely got the vibe from the server that they just wanted to close for the night even though it was hours before closing.

We had a great experience at The Fudgery of Charleston last weekend! The ice cream was absolutely delicious, and the variety of flavors made it so hard to choose just one. My kids asked to sample a couple of flavors, and Kyle was so kind and patient, letting them try exactly what they wanted. His amazing customer service made our visit extra special. Kyle was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We’ll definitely be back for more!
You can only get two flavors of ice cream if you purchase the largest size bowl. Not customer friendly.
The fudge is amazing but after the male worker was so rude on Saturday 09/21/24 and judgey for us utilizing "their" deal... we will not return, plenty of other fudge shops to go too.
