As a guy with a pretty simple palate, this is arguably the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had.
Locally sourced chicken (buttermilk fried) with bibb lettuce on a Normandy Farms brioche roll and of course, Duke‘s mayonnaise!
Accompanied nicely with a side of Charleston red rice and some pickled cucumbers.
Oh yeah, a slice of honey drizzled chocolate peanut butter pie to go?
Yes!
Lastly, the service was exemplary and it had a really good vibe with great music in the background.

I decided to get an of three and cornbread, but added a chicken breast. It was good and well seasoned. Service was ok and it wasn't too busy.

Terrible just terrible. From the snarky waitress who had bad customer service. To the horrible shrimp and grits with no seasoning. If you like tomato based with a couple pieces of shrimp and no sausage, try this place out.

Perfect for refined dinners in a timeless atmosphere
Very good food in relaxed, casual open dining area. Not crowded. Staff is usually friendly and in no hurry.

Outstanding southern cuisine in an unassuming space. Hit the mid afternoon service slump but suits us right for eating lunch in the middle of the afternoon. Trout, butterbeans, collards and gumbo were standouts in the line up. And it’s true, the cornbread is delish!!

What a find! Visiting Charleston and had read good things about The Glass Onion. It did not disappoint!
Our server ( Haley?) was just the cutest! So bubbly, knowledgeable and attentive.
We were a party of 6. We had shrimp po boy, chicken sandwich, pork chops, gumbo and shrimp and grits. Everything was fresh and excellent. My son said it was the best chicken sandwich he’s ever had and he’s had a lot!
The macaroni salad is amazing!
We even bought a couple of cookbooks. Can’t wait to try some recipes.
Don’t pass this place by!

Loud music greeted us upon arrival, and our request to lower the volume was ignored. Our table was so tightly packed that sitting down was a struggle, and the waitress showed no interest in helping. The house hot sauce came in a broken container—definitely not a good look.
As for the food, the dirty rice side was either overcooked or had been sitting too long. The only highlight was the quail, which was genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, one good dish couldn’t make up for the overall poor experience

It is as advertised. Solid southern cooking, wonderful southern hospitality service and a rustic setting. Portions are very generous for a price that won't bust your budget. You will not leave hungry. Thru offer beer, wine and cocktails.

Always passed by this place and glad we stopped. Busy Saturday night but didn't wait long. Food was excellent, had breaded and fried quail, think fried chicken, and was perfectly cook. We will stop again.

1st time here and I had the quail with grits, eggs and a biscuit served with their house jam. One word. Wow . This food was exactly what I was looking for in Charleston. If you want low country southern food and be able to bring a vegetarian or gf friend come here.
