EDIT: Scaling back the scathing-ness of original review. I was hangry and mean and I apologize. My review was unkind and I wrote like some pretentious jerk from Condé Nast. The owner took time to write a heartfelt response, and that means a lot. This is a clearly passionate owner who started with an innovative theme, and executed on a brilliantly designed decor. I like that the cocktails were named for women of local and international renown. But running a restaurant is Hard Work and full of blind spots. With that, things can slip between the cracks, and in short time, even the most fabulous restaurant concepts can go sideways. It seems that's what happened here, but it's not for lack of determination on the part of the owner. My wife and I were invited to join a friend here; our friend had dined at HH in the past, and found their staff to be sensitive to certain dietary needs. On this visit however, there'd been some fundamental changes to the menu and perhaps the training of staff, to the point that our party couldn't eat or drink there. It was disappointing, given what we'd heard.HH is now closing for business. The owner announced this on social media and mused that it's time for a reset and regroup which, in all kindness, is a healthy idea. Some of the blind spots now removed, I think whatever she does next will be brilliant.

My family and I came to celebrate our sisters 21st birthday and loved the atmosphere. It was great for pictures. Our drinks and desserts were alright. I got the Anna Ravenel and to me, it tasted like a lime margarita and it was very heavy on the salt. I’d definitely come back again, but probably would try other things.

Did not meet expectations. Our group of four was very much looking forward to eating here, after checking out the website and reading reviews. The space itself is lovely and has a lot of nice design details.Unfortunately the delay to get something as basic as coffee took over 20 minutes. Then over an hour for the food to come. While waiting, we saw tables that had been seated after us receiving coffee and food before us.When it had been close to an hour of waiting the owner came by our table and we let him know we weren't ok with the delay. He asked if we'd like 'some bubbles' which none of us did. He made some kind of excuse, shrugged his shoulders and walked away. When the food finally arrived it was good enough, but not worth waiting that long for.To give a bit more background, we had a reservation, so they knew we were coming, we were the second table to arrive, and this was a Sunday morning, a typical popular time for brunch. There were no more than 6 tables seated at any time. So they were not very busy, but used that as an excuse. There was nothing comped, no real apology, no real reason for the delayed service.Hopefully this restaurant can get it together and make some changes to its operations and customer service. It is a great space, food was good, but we won't be back.

Cannot speak to the food. Walked in. Only 2 tables being served.otherwise empty. Waited at least 5 minutes. Started signaling to the security camera before a hostess came out and said reservation only due to staffing. If they could serve 2, they could serve 3 tables. Most servers in the industry take more. I expect this kind of service to close the restaurant.

I think we were expecting a lot more out of this place than what we received. Firstly, we were charged a $200 deposit for just making a simple reservation and then when we went to pay the bill they did not take off the $200 and consequently we paid for the total amount of the bill. When we tried to speak to one of the employees about it; to take off the $200 she simply said that’s not true, and that we were never charged even though we were in advance. We then asked to speak to the manager who was finally able to take off the charges, but we are very disappointed that they weren’t willing to believe us the first time. The food was just OK for brunch. They did accommodate us in the private room after we asked to be seated in there since our party size had decreased, Our server was very friendly but I wouldn’t come here again for bunch. I had the salad with the egg and I was not filling to have 1 egg inside 1 onion ring and a fancy salad that resembled a side dish.

Took 15 minutes for a bartender to acknowledge us and there was 1 other person at the bar. Extremely loud. Service was horrible, drinks were average. Would never go back or recommend it to anyone

The ambiance was elegant, sophisticated, lively and fun. The food was an inspirational culinary delight...delicious and beautiful. The mixologist, Zen, took great care in crafting his cocktails. The owners are both passionate about the curated experience you will have! Loved this place and highly recommend it!

We had reservations at 11 for a party of 5 for the burlesque brunch. We arrived at 11 and the restaurant wasn't open. We went and had a drink next door and came back at 11:15 and we were sat in the very back. The girls only really dance in the front so we just got to see them walk from the glass room out to the front and maybe do a little twirl along the way. The music wasnt loud and at sometimes there was no music at all. We had a 3 course meal that was all h'orderve sized. The main dish was a mushroom tarte that I ate in 4 bites. I was definitely hoping for a more decadent selection of food like chocolate covered bacon or something like that. We got a parfey, a mushroom tart and a danish. We didn't get our food until 1pm (2 hours after we arrived) Drinks were constantly empty. We left as soon as we ate desert and that was a 2pm. We left hungry and annoyed. This was not the experience we were hoping for.

I cannot say enough good things about the honey hive! All the food was outstanding! The peanut butter crème brûlée has a blackberry jam underneath and tasted just like a pb&j. It was SO GOOD! I also got the tomato pie, which was amazing as well. You truly can’t go wrong here- everything is superb, from the taste to the presentation to the service. The owner accidentally knocked a fork onto my friend, who miraculously caught it before it hit her. The owner offered her a free shot for the troubles, which we all thought was such a nice gesture. The bathroom… is LIT. I was transported to another world where everything is pink and Lizzo and other strong female vocalists are blasting on the speakers. There’s a cute lounge area with a ring light to get that perfect selfie and chairs to sit and fix your makeup. No lie I disappeared from the dinner table and danced around the bathroom for 10 min before I told my friends they had to come join. It was so fun.I’m sad I discovered this place on my last day in Charleston because I would have loved to return every single day. When people ask me what my favorite thing about Charleston was, I say “The Honey Hive!!” It is such a vibe and caters to women who are feelin themselves and treating themselves to dessert and drinks. It’s an absolute must visit!

What a unique and wonderful experience! The menu was creative and so delicious!!! My absolute favorite was the Chicken & Waffles and the Brioche Donuts! The syrup and sauce that accompanied those items were beyond decadent!! I sampled the Duck & Grits … a wonderful surprise to my palate. On top of the wonderful decor and menu items, the stellar service from Aaliyah was a joy! I’ll definitely dine at the Honey Hive again!
