The food and the drinks are way too pricey for the quality and service. Would rather go downtown for those prices. We have been twice, not returning.

This was a great experience. We were greeted warmly at the door, taken to a table, and had virtually no wait until our server, Tristan arrived. We discussed their cocktail menu and he recommended a local beer for me and a local vodka for my wife. Both were excellent.
The food was spectacular, I highly recommend the prime rib. I’d caution against everyone ordering side items; one side of green beans is enough for an army.
Well worth your time to seek this place out.

Can’t say enough good things about The James. We feel really lucky as JI residents to have such a great local restaurant and go often. Had an excellent dinner tonight, as always. Heather has taken care of us several times and is exceptional. So glad you’re here!

Good food, loved the French onion soup which they were able to modify to gluten-free so my celiac friend could share, server was knowledgeable and helpful. Not a lot of GF options, but kitchen was certainly willing to modify where possible. They were able to accommodate our group of 8 with advanced notice.

We visited when they first opened and haven't stopped! It's a go-to for us whenever my parents, friends or clients are in town. And most recently, they evened remembered my dad (who lives in CA) from his last visit 5 months ago! That is some southern hospitality! Our servers are always friendly. The recent specials: pork chop and swordfish were great. And they happily accommodated a request to cook a burger in butter and not canola oil. We are big fans!

I’ve had multiple very good meals at this place until last night. I don’t know if there has been a chef change or a Monday night off for the original chef but the hula bbq ribs were tough as rubber and had a VERY unappealing and strange flavor 2/10. The once infamous French onion soup was now a flop, given they decided to cut food cost and use a processed thick sliced of cheese that wasn’t even melted and unable to be cut. I was unable to eat either! Very very disappointing. Bar tenders merely said they’d pass on my suggestions.

Can’t say enough great things about this place! I haven’t had one bad thing in the menu. You have to try the Prime Rib Melt, you won’t be disappointed.

Good food but this is all they gave me for 4 people, the restaurant scared me with the dimmed lights and I felt haunted. There was too much sexual tension between me and the cheeseburger, and the French onion soup— while delicious and creamy— reminded me too much of my ex to properly enjoy it. Would go again 8/10

From start to finish. The manager or staff open the door for myself my wife and blind brother. The wait staff was so accommodating and pleasant. Now comes the food and service. I had a choice prime rib or ribeye. Ribeye was excellent, fettuccine Alfredo was perfect. Wife had chicken parmigiana. Again excellent. Brother had crab cake sandwich. Excellent. The service never felt crowded, but open eyed and very attentive. The price was quite fair. We have found an awesome place for dinner. This earns a return trip.

Whoever the cook was last night 7/12 was super heavy handed with the salt! Our shrimp needed to be returned, and one couldn't eat hers. The sauce on the broccolini was also super salty! Never have had an issue before so maybe this cook is new. Please step back from the salt shaker!!

French onion soup was ok but Def not the greatest, prime rib was on the tough side. The green beans are just that green beans . The bread rolls are good (Hawaiian rolls w salt) Do I think it’s worth the money def not For the money I won’t go again HALLS IS WAY BETTER.

Great service and food. Our waiter was very attentive and made great recommendations based off of our preferences. The Ribeye sandwich and pecan crusted chicken were amazing.
