The absolute best shrimp and Grits I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Perfect early dinner.

Having lived and worked in Charleston for five years, I've tasted most everyone's shrimp and grits.

My husband and I visited from Florida and stopped at the Thoroughbred bar. Heath, the bartender, was AMAZING. Great personality, fun to chat with, and took great care of us. He made our visit to Charleston memorable 👍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had an unforgettable experience at the Thoroughbred Club inside The Charleston Place, and it was all thanks to our amazing waitress, Karla. From the moment we sat down, she went above and beyond. She knew we wanted to share an entrée and had it beautifully plated on two separate dishes without us even asking (a small touch that made a big impact).

But the highlight? Karla surprised us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary, and it was genuinely one of the sweetest, most thoughtful gestures we’ve had while dining out.

The atmosphere was elegant, the service was top-tier, piano played in the background, and Karla made us feel truly celebrated. She’s the kind of person who elevates the entire experience, warm, attentive, and totally on it. 10/10, highly recommend requesting her if you’re lucky enough to visit!

Karla (Carla?) was a fantastic server. Very friendly and sweet to our 7 year old. Would definitely recommend!

You get what you pay for. $23 for an old fashioned that was very strong and more like a double. Amazing service and amazing atmosphere. I look forward to returning on my next trip to Charleston in a few months.

It is so disappointing to come to The Thoroughbred Bar and have to wait when there are tables empty. The new system implemented is not welcoming. We used to enjoy going into the bar, but now the Gathekeepers won’t let us in. Having Gatekeepers who guard the bar is absolutely ridiculous! Thoroughbred Bar is no longer our place and that is ashame, especially when we stay at the hotel.

They had a really delicious take on shrimp and grits. Lobster roll was also really good but not the flavor of the shrimp and grits was on another level. The crème brûlée being lit at the table was really fun and delicious. Service was super friendly and attentive.

After a long day of touring Charleston, we decided to dine in the lively Thoroughbred Club. We enjoyed our food choices very much and cocktails. It was fun watching the bartender whip up specialty drinks. Most of all, we appreciated the piano music playing at the bar. The pianist had quite the repertoire and that added to our overall experience.
