A beautiful little restaurant that has it all. The service was fantastic and the ambiance perfect. The sourdough was fenominal. Flounder was amazing but many bites were over salted. Same issue with the rabit pasta being good but much too salty. The dessert - flourless cake was perfect! So glad we ordered it!Really only issue was the saltiness. I would definitely return though, its a lovely spot

Wow! Vern's was spectacular in every way. Be sure to grab a reservation, but sometimes you may get lucky and get a table. The food was perfect. The Gnocchi & Chicken dish were perfect. I can see why this restaurant is known to be one of the best in Charleston.

We had a very bad service experience, so bad that I considered leaving the restaurant before we got our food, I was absolutely infuriated. However, I have to admit, the food here is so ridiculously good that I calmed down and just kept asking for the next course. So, whatever. Five stars. It rocks.

Came here on a Sunday night with no reservation on a Hail Mary we might be able to sit at the bar.Low and behold, the congenial hostess made a miracle happen. She gave us a reserved table on the condition we only stayed for an hour and made it available for the reserved party upon their arrival.Night started out great and we hadn't even sat down yet.For food we had the escargot, sourdough, beet salad and the pork loin. For drinks we had a beer, a glass of white wine and chamomile tea.All the food was delicious, the atmosphere exceedingly pleasant and the service kind and helpful. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a real dining experience. The pork loin is a winner in all fronts: pork, mushrooms and the sauce. You can have a quiet conversation at this place and still hear the music. I really appreciate that. They had the music dialed in perfect. Now, a few notes I wish I could tell the chef in private but will say here for lack of a better venue:The escargot ?being a delectable sauce heavy dish coming without bread as a side is deflating and takes away from the experience. ?It is like ordering guacamole and having to order the chips separately. That's what happened to us.The escargot arrived and we asked, where is the bread? We ordered the sourdough but had to wait and stare at the escargot getting cold. I wish the waitress had provided the recommendation. The bread did not come precut, which for me also felt strange. The beet salad ?presentation, texture and taste were beautiful, delectable and delicious respectively, but the salad pieces themselves rather large. Leafy greens that require you to open your mouth like a dragon to fit them in are too large. I cut them but I shouldn't have to at a place like this.Overall, if the escargot had come with bread, and the bread had come precut, and the salad pieces had been bite sized, and the wine had come without reminding the waitress, this place would be deserving of a Michelin star, everything js put together really really well.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly

Unfortunately we were not able to keep our reservation at Vern’s. It was booked a month in advance for a trip to Charleston. The afternoon of my wife came down with food poisoning. We notified the restaurant Right away. The response was that they required cancellation sooner and if we did not come we would be charged a fee. Apparently they would have preferred someone to arrive and vomit at the restaurant. I understand cancellation policies but showing a little grace for situations out of a customers control is not too much to ask. At the very least an “I’m sorry you can’t make it I hope you feel better” to go along with the $50 slap in the face would have been nice.

First of all our waitress was one of the best waitresses I have had. Wonderful! The food and the atmosphere was great. The bitter lettuce salad is a must. But everything we had was incredible. Wonderful spot!!

Interesting menu with superb food, service is friendly and mostly competent if not professional. The restaurant however is so tightly packed and noisy, and the seats so uncomfortable, that I will not be going back. The tables are so close together that every time a server went by they banged into my chair. Also, the din is so loud that our server had a horse voice from yelling over the noise in the restaurant.Vegetarian options: You can make a dinner out of the side dishes but no main dishes were vegetarian

This quaint small restaurant has a romantic ambience. Our waitress that night was helpful, friendly, and very Knowledgeable with the menu and drink list.We had charred sourdough and raw yellowfin tuna as our appetizers they were good. My husband think the calabrian chili lemon on the tuna was too over power but I really like it. The charred sourdough was on the thin crunchy side but I was hoping for it to be a bit thicker but it still tasted good. Our next dish was bitter lettuce salad mix that top with flavor pack bread crumb and Parmesan cheese, so so good and I recommend this salad! We then enjoyed the wagyu beef special and it didn't come with any side so we paired it with gnochetti sardı but sadly it was to lemony taste for our taste bud. The steak pretty good tho.We really enjoyed our dinner and our waitress often came by to check on us and made sure we are still good with our meal and drink. We will try to come back again to Vern's in the future to try other dish.

I was really looking forward to my dinner at Vern’s for Valentine’s Day. It was good, but definitely not worth the hype. The food was far too salty and I normally am not one to say that. The escargot was delicious, salty, but that was expected. However, the rabbit pasta was almost inedible with how overpowering the salt was. The trout was good but again the sauce was overly salted. We decided not to have dessert because we were so disappointed. Better places in CHS in my opinion. We could have ordered wrong but with the menu being so small, everything should be amazing.

This is a special place and quite unique for Charleston. It almost felt like I was in the West Village of NYC. The food and service were outstanding! Can’t wait to go back.
