So thankful for this cafe! My wife & I have passed this spot a couple of times on hiking trips in the upstate and we finally decided to check it out. Kind staff, good coffee, and all the essential sandwich needs to get you back on the trails or biting into a sweet treat to celebrate your conquering of nature post excursion
Vegetarian options: They have a grilled cheese, pimento grilled cheese, and a pb & J

Beautiful place in the middle of the mountains. I went with my family on a trip to hike up the nearby trails, and we stopped here for some breakfast. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The place wasn't very crowded as it was early in the morning (8am). The people there were very nice and welcoming, too. This place also has a little store to buy souvenirs. I highly recommend this place

Great service, wonderful coffee and super cozy. The sandwiches were delicious as was the tomato bisque. Super friendly family run stop on the way to hiking at DuPont State Forest. Oh, and the fudge is delicious. Highly recommend.

We were driving through the area and stopped here for a coffee (and a pup cup). The staff were extremely friendly and it is dog friendly. They made our dog a pup cup with whipped cream and treats. I ordered an iced coffee and black and it was really good. I may order a seasonal drink next time. I highly recommend this coffee shop. It is just right off the road and has a great atmosphere.

Food is overpriced. You get too small of a portion of regular, easily made at home food for it to be worth it. Coffee was a little expensive as well, i think its a fair value depending on their ingredients. Since it was good quality, there are no complaints on that aspect.Almost $40 for 2 coffees and 2 food items.Edited as i was being too harsh with initial review

Don't order any plaques. I ordered 1 two months ago and still haven't received it. Called numerous times and still haven't received it yet. Wanted to give the plaque as a wedding gift to my son but it doesn't look like I'll get to do that now.
The Mountain House is under new ownership. The food is good and the old place has had nice upgrades. They offer sandwiches, soups and waffles as well as the accustomed ice cream and fudge. Pre hike, post hike or just sightseeing in the mountains I highly recommend a stop here.

We were so hungry after our hike, stopped here for a quick bite. Sandwiches & soups. Ham & cheese croissant with broccoli & cheese soup. Chicken salad on a bed of spinach with a tomato bisque soup. Both dishes were delicious. Best part was the ice cream. We had the cappuccino one, so good. Limited parking.
