Do yourself a favor and go to this place! It's exceptionally good. Cajun style food that's out of this world. Forget about the franchise food places you can get anytime back home, they suck! When in Columbia, South Carolina, go to the Bourbon restaurant.

Save-the Vaquita
Please change the steak back. This is a wonderful restaurant and my husband and I came here a few months ago where he ordered the steak. He was truly nearly reduced to tears he loved it so much (not an exaggeration). It was the best steak he's ever had at a restaurant (and he gets steak whenever the option is available). Since then he's been telling all his friends about this place. We came back today, expecting this wonderful steak but they changed the recipe. It now has much less seasoning (specifically the thing my husband loved about the old recipe) and comes covered in a wet sauce that causes the steak to lose its sear. The steak was already expensive, but with the old recipe we were happy to pay it. Please bring it back. Thank you, bourbon.
Update: Thank you, Bourbon for your response, I really do appreciate it and we will be happy to return and update the review once the steak recipe has been updated. I do apologize, as I didn't realize emailing was an option and I just wanted to make sure that we could be heard. I know that this seems a lot for a steak, and this is not something I normally do, but it really speaks to how much we enjoyed our first experience here that it was such a let down this time. I look forward to trying again and leaving a better review, including your willingness to hear what the customers have to say.

Amazing food and ambience with great service. Portion sizes might be a bit small but pack a punch flavor wise. Ordered the gumbo and it was undoubtedly one of the best gumbos I’ve ever had. Staff is really helpful and attentive. Ambience is great and they do play really great songs. Overall, a really great place with great food.

The service and environment were wonderful! We sat outside and the street traffic/noise was minimal-we were able to enjoy our meal and have a great conversation. The food was okay. I’m from Charleston, so I have high expectations about shrimp and grits; their take on it did not meet my expectations at all

Phoenix made our dinner at Bourbon absolutely unforgettable!!! She was a shining star during our weekend in Columbia. Not only did she give the best recommendations but she was an absolute pleasure to yap with.
As for the food, Phoe put us on to the best plates we could have asked for: the smoked pork and the étouffée. Both were cooked to perfection and had mesmerizing flavor. The smoked pimento cheese dip (pictured) was also a fantastic starter. As for drinks, we recommend the sunset tico—tequila and passion fruit is an undefeated combo. We would have taken more photos, but we ate too fast!
