Wow! This establishment was A+! We went on Valentine's Day and they had a special menu and it was very difficult deciding because it all looked amazing. We made our decision based on some recommendations from our kind, efficient and attentive server. We started with the specialty hot tea and it soothed the soul and was very flavorful. We were watching the sushi chef and we're amazed how intricate and talented he was with this art. We do not normally eat sushi and we couldn't help ourselves and had to try it. We were blown away with the fresh ingredients and how flavorful it was. We are officially sushi fans now! Our entrees were delicious as well. Then came the dessert with homemade crepes and a perfectly balanced Japanese cream filling.
I highly recommend this restaurant. You feel welcomed as soon as you enter the Japanese style entrance. It was cozy, and private how they had the tables set up. Finally a place where you can enjoy the atmosphere and the person you are with for there were no televisions and loud annoying music. They had soft and peaceful Japanese music playing in the background. The owners are present to ensure a top notch dining experience. The server went over and beyond and truly cared about our dining expierence. We will definitely return and it's worth the 1.5 hour drive!

I went to their dinner service around 730pm and was stunningly blasted into another atmosphere. The soothing authentic music that sets the mood. With the traditional decor and aromatic smells of the spices. It is the ideal quaint place for families, couples, meetings or friendly gatherings.

I went during the early bird special and got the fried tofu, gyoza, cali roll and salad with ginger dressing.

I just wish the tofu had a little crunch to it, but the food was delicious and plentiful.

The restaurant is located along the side of a major street, so we parked about a block away and walked over, which was not an issue for us at all. From the moment we stepped inside, the experience completely shifted. The interior is truly spectacular—quiet, intimate, and thoughtfully designed. The space is petite yet incredibly intentional, and it immediately evokes the feeling of being transported to Japan. While I’ve never personally been to Japan, this restaurant genuinely took me out of a Western setting and placed me into what felt like a Japanese dining experience.
Each table is sectioned off with dividers, which adds a layer of privacy while still maintaining an open, welcoming atmosphere that reminds you that you’re still in the United States. It’s a perfect balance between intimacy and accessibility, and it contributes greatly to the overall ambiance.
I ordered the karaage meal, which came with a cabbage salad and rice. At first, I was concerned it might not be enough food, but it ended up hitting the spot in ways I didn’t expect. While I could have eaten more, I was genuinely satisfied and comfortable by the end of the meal, which speaks volumes about the quality and balance of the dish.
When placing my order, I also requested soup and mentioned to our server that I had been coughing earlier. Even though I wasn’t actively coughing in the restaurant, she went out of her way to bring me hot tea to help soothe my throat. That level of care and attentiveness went well beyond expectations. She was incredibly polite, well-mannered, and made sure we felt genuinely taken care of throughout our visit.
The value here is outstanding—not just for the food, but for the service, atmosphere, and overall experience. Everything comes together seamlessly, and it truly feels like a home run. There was no long wait to be seated; we walked in, told them how many people were in our party, and were seated promptly.
For dessert, I ordered the matcha cheesecake. I went in with certain expectations based on what I was used to, and while it leaned more toward a New York–style cheesecake flavored with matcha rather than a traditional Japanese-style cheesecake, it was still very enjoyable and well-executed.
Overall, everything—from the value and location to the food, service, and atmosphere—was excellent. I would absolutely recommend this place and plan to return the next time I’m back in town. I’m looking forward to trying more items on the menu and bringing more friends along with me. A sincere thank you to the young lady who went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience.

Delicious authentic Japanese food! I’d give it ALL the stars! Clean, quiet, friendly atmosphere. The food takes a little longer to prepare, but is definitely made fresh and worth the wait. So much goodness and the portion sizes are plentiful. Will definitely be back for more!!

Hands down the best sushi in Columbia. The sliding paper door to get inside is such a great touch. They have hibachi as well and the service is always amazing. Parking can be difficult to find, but street parking on Assembly St. is an option.

My mom and I were looking for a sushi spot downtown before going to see holiday lights. I am so glad we ended up at Camon! We walked in and the restaurant was very cozy and I could tell it was well loved by the owners. Our waiter was so attentive and kind and he took care of everything we could have possible needed. The food was delicious as well. I eat sushi maybe 3-4 times a week and Camon is for sure going to be one of my go to spots for sushi in Columbia! They also offered a student discount for college students which I appreciated as a student myself! I loved it and it was a great meal with excellent service!!

I was going to an event at the library in the evening and I hadn't eaten dinner. I stopped in to this wonderful little place and wish I could order more if I had more time. I will definitely come back!
I got a soup and I forget the sushi roll but it was delicious. I especially liked the atmosphere and service. A nice quiet subdued little restaurant.

So happy my husband and I visited. The tempura, yakitori, gyoza, miso soup, karage, and tonkatsu curry were all perfect. Atmosphere was just like a local restaurant in Japan, especially with the complimentary green tea. Its like having a little slice of japan right here in Columbia. We will be frequent visitors

From the outside, this looks like it's going to be a hole in the wall, but don't let the exterior fool you. Once I was past the sliding door, I loved everything about the place--the decor, the ambiance, the staff, and most importantly the very authentic and delicious sushi. I don't live in Columbia, but if I did, I'd be back often!
