We made reservations after our tennis tournament this weekend. There were 18 of us and we split it between two tables. Timmy, our server was doing the best that he could on his four shift. It took us 3 1/2 hours to order, eat and cash out. Yes we had separate checks, but we let that be known ahead of time. A member of our group went to speak to the manager after we cashed out. He asked her why she wasn’t there to help her new server when he had such a large party. She just smiled and never apologized nor did she offer any assistance to this server. Thank you, Timmy for doing the best that you could given the circumstances, but shame on you manager for not doing your part.

So we usually go here for lunch, but today we had dinner (good decision!). Venny was the best server!! Now the pow pow shrimp was a salty, and the fried Brussel sprouts almost chocked me lol, but Venny got it fixed right away. The ribs, steak, and broccoli was great! We will be back for dinner

Surprising how busy this spot was at 5pm on a weekday. Tried several items off the menu and nothing was terrible but nothing was great/stood out. The fish and chips was way too heavy breading and someone forgot to use salt entirely. Wings on the other hand were too salty. Service was fine - my server followed up several times.

This was one of the few places open at 9:30 pm where we could grab a bite after a concert nearby. The staff didn't rush us. I had shrimp and grits and my husband had the fiesta salad. Both were excellent. Now that we know, we'll certainly be back.
Currently at the Hickory Tavern on what was supposed to be a small getaway from the hospital that I’ve been stuck in over 2 weeks with my baby. Literally had an hour and a half’s worth time to enjoy myself as the nurses put it and come back before baby’s next feeding. Got seated and never approached by a staff member the entire time but patrons who entered after us were served. I frequent Hickory Tavern and am extremely disappointed in today’s service. Hate that for me and my family.

I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in Columbia, but Hickory Tavern on Senate Street truly stands out and a big part of that is Cassie, the best manager I’ve ever met! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food is always fresh and delicious, but what keeps me coming back is the incredible customer service.
Cassie goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels valued. She checks in at tables with a genuine smile, remembers regular customers by name, and makes sure any issue is handled quickly and professionally. You can tell she really cares about both the staff and the guests, and that energy makes the whole place run smoothly.
