Kiki's Chicken and Waffles

The food is always good. My issue is the pricing. I visited this restaurant on today and when I checked my receipt, I noticed the sales tax was not correct. After checking my calculations twice and checking SC tax code website, I asked to speak to the manager. I wasn’t rude or loud. I calmly showed her I was charged 11% sales tax plus a service fee. As I was trying to read what I found on the website, the manager(heavy set black lady with long dreads) started to over talk me and dismiss what I was saying. I was tryin to explain to her that I should have been charged 6% and up to 2% for a hospitality tax per the guidelines. At first she said it’s 8% plus an extra hospitality tax added. After reading what I saw online, she switched and said; “well they were just in here and checked everything” “they format the taxes on the register”. “We pay our taxes”…etc.. I wasn’t even trying to take it there. I was trying to explain that the discrepancy isn’t ok and it’s WRONG! Maybe check into it. Then I asked about the service fee in which I told her it is illegal to charge a fee if I use my debit card. She told me they run all cards as credit cards but that has not been my experience with this company. Either way, it’s illegal. So she says; “well I can give u $1 back”! Completely missing the issue. There was no need for her to feel like she had to go on the defense. I didn’t come at her rude. If you as a manager can’t handle customers asking about money they’re spending at ur restaurant, u need to hire someone that can. I don’t care if it’s .10 cents. Don’t get upset with me cuz I’m asking about my coins that I work hard for each day! I don’t ask for shit to be free so I expect to be charged fairly and appropriately!

I have waited 46 years to try chicken and waffles.. the sweet potato waffles with chicken made me realize I have been missing out and at the same time I will always try to chase that first time high but never be as good! Shayla was charming and polite! Couldnt have asked for a better dining experience!

The food was lacking unique Flavor, the grits were really watery, and the belgion waffle was basic as in comparison I'm coming from Houston but I did not let up in eating because I came there hungry and ready~ Plus given that this was one of the places that came highly recommended. But my server Anntionette did not fail, she made for the 1st time visiting really pleasant 😊 She kept checking on me, made sure my food came hot, and cleaned up my table mid way~ given I didn't come to play! -THANKFUL TO HER*

Good food (id initially only ate via DoorDash), but when i tried dining in person, its hands down one of the nastiest establishments Ive been to in a while. The counters/tables were very sticky, the menus were sticky, the heated air from the vent had a weird smell as well. Just a very unclean atmosphere

This was one of the best experiences and delicious well prepared home cooked meals I had in such along time!
I highly recommend this location and every time I visit South Carolina this will be my go-to spot to enjoy a delicious meal 💪🏼💯
Shout out to my waitress Kayla B. She's absolutely amazing! May I add very polite warm welcoming professional 👌🏼 You definitely have to give that girl a generous tip she well deserves it 👍🏼

While traveling, my family had to try out Kiki’s after seeing it highly reviewed online and in magazines. We arrived late for lunch(nearly 2), but the restaurant seemed to have only one working server and a bar tender for a large space. He was an excellent server, though the restaurant was very busy and he was overworked. Honestly, the restaurant had a very bad smell, but we were seated close to the restrooms. We’re troopers though, so we went for it and the food was wonderful! We tried the fried okra, Mac and cheese bites, corn bites, chicken and waffles, wings and shrimp and grits. All was delicious! So if you go, I recommend the food for takeout🤪

Kiki just got her recipes from her grandma! lol the food is ALWAYS good! I had collard greens, the smothered chicken with mashed potatoes and it did what it was supposed to do! The service was great as well!

My spouse and I had dinner here this afternoon and I cannot say that I enjoyed my experience. Although the food was hot and was served to us in less than 15 minutes, the good aspects do not outweigh the bad. My chicken wings were very salty and tasted like the grease they were fried in was burnt and old, and the Belgium waffle was bland. My husband’s chicken (leg, wing, breast and thigh) appeared to have been cooked in newer grease. My food was served about 6 minutes before my spouse plate came out, so I waited until he received his. My preference would have been to have our plates brought to us at the same time. We were given plastic ware which I thought was very tacky especially since we were dining in and our food was served on plates. Even the Waffle House uses silverware! The floor under our table was very, very sticky leaving me to wash the bottom of my shoes when I got home. The table was sticky, the syrup container had syrup running down the side. Our window was dirty and nasty, and it was very warm inside of the restaurant although it was extremely hot outside. I was very disappointed spending $50.00 in this grimy establishment! It needs a thorough cleaning! It is too overrated with the television ads and all and it is not worth the money! I have no plans to visit this restaurant again. The one positive thing I do have to say is that our waitress, Kayla was phenomenal. 🧡
