Arrived about 2pm. The waitress was friendly and helpful about options. The problem was when my salad came out. The shredded cheddar on top was green with mold. I flagged down the waitress and sent the salad back. Another salad was brought out that was smaller. I had ordered baked chicken on it. Second bite of chicken had a sharp sliced piece of bone in it. I found 3 more pieces of bone. The manager apologized. But offered no excuse. The waitress took more accountability than management. She had to request from management to do something about the check. My salad was finally comped. I wasn't asking for that. I wanted to know why something like that could happen. I couldn't eat anything after finding the bones. I paid my bill and left a good tip for the waitress because she did her job and shouldn't be punished for kitchen and management failing.

10/5 star Dined here October 11th 2025. Had to wait until 11 to be served lunch and I had time to kill. Ordered the pork chop lunch. It was delicious, had collard greens, Mac and cheese, dressing and a side of potato salad. This is a 10/5 place to eat. The vibe was cool because it was a walk for cancer day I believe and the staff were very nice. Checked on me the right amount of times.

Great little restaurant. Good food, lots of choices, everything fresh. Service is good and staff is friendly. Prices are very reasonable which is odd in todays culture. I Stop here every time I am in this area.
Please don't waste your money or time eating at these establishments Lizard Thickett is becoming increasingly down hill.
Swing and a miss! Read about this place a while back and decided to give it a try. We love meat and three southern cooking restaurants and were hoping to find something in Columbia SC. Husband drove like a bat out of hell to get there for lunch. Pros: Ample parking because not many there. Service was efficient and good. Prices seemed fair. Cons: We were hopeful for a good meat and three lunch - we are not that picky! Rolls are the kind from a 24 pack that are torn off, not homemade and were soft, tasteless and not good. (Like you would get at Kroger or the grocery store.). Butter was a spread of some kind, cheap and tasteless. Most of the food, we both had veggie plates, appeared to be from a can or box. The Mac and cheese was good. The mashed potatoes and gravy appeared to be from a box and a jar. Green beans and Lima beans were fair. Collards appeared to be fresh though. We won’t be back and recommend if you are on the fence about it to just go on by, especially if you just want veggies. If you are traveling and ever on I75 in Cleveland Tennessee go to the Old Fort Restaurant- that is a great place and worth a stop! Yes, I know it isn’t close to Columbia SC, just wanted to share for those travelers out there.
Service was great, food was great and the cost very reasonable. Highly Recommend this restaurant when in the Columbia, South Carolina area.
Food was poor quality. Good sized portions but over cooked. Not attractive decor. Windows and all glass were filthy. Sadly no alcohol!
My wife & I stopped here for dinner while in the Columbia area. Unbeknownst to us initially, it is a chain restaurant. The food was very good, and the waitress could not have been any nicer nor more attentive. They have a vast menu and all of the food was fresh. I had the catfish (very fresh and cooked just right) with some of the vegetables. My wife had the fried chicken which was also fresh and crispy, and for us, both were a nice treat as we can't usually find these southern delicacies near where we live. Unlike what we sometimes find with chain restaurants is that the veggies soak all day and are soggy when they arrive. This was not the case here, the corn was crunchy, as it should be, and the broccoli was also very good. The best, of course, was the cornbread and the pies we had for dessert! Our waitress was awesome and made sure our drinks were replenished and all was well with the meal. All in all, a great place to stop as there are a great deal of options and they treat you like a valued customer.
I eat their weekly. Grew up eating Lizards Thicket. Started out at the one that used to be by the airport. I’ve eaten at all of them. They are all good. Love the breakfast. Love the specials. Love the staff. Would recommend anybody that has had a bad Experience. Don’t let that one time experience stop you from enjoying a lot more of good experiences there. Highly recommend them.!!!!👍

Not what it used to be. Cornbread is dry and tasteless. Fake butter- takes an act of congress to get the real stuff- they just nod and ignore you. Portions have shrunk, most vegetables taste canned or not seasoned at all. Their 'famous ' salad with chicken will give you cotton mouth and has nothing but tomato, way overpriced for a small salad. The chef salad is just cubes of cheap ham and turkey. Service is usually quick, but that's because the food isn't made fresh. And do NOT get Mac and cheese unless it's at the beginning of lunch. Even then, you're lucky if it isn't just pasta with barely-there cheese. Squash casserole is tasteless and cheese-free as well. And PLEASE stop begging for tips at the drive through.
They don’t cater to dietary restrictions for all customers. Disappointing…

I recently ordered a bacon and egg sandwich along with a grilled pound cake. Upon reviewing my order, I noticed that I was charged for an egg sandwich with cheese. Unfortunately, I have a severe allergy to cheese, so I was concerned about this mix-up.
I reached out to speak with the manager to address the issue. However, I found it challenging to communicate my concerns, as he talked over me and seemed to struggle to listen to my explanation. I attempted to clarify that the order taker likely misunderstood my request, as I would never intentionally order something that could cause an allergic reaction. The manager stated, “I am sorry, ma'am, we can remake the sandwich, but we will need to charge you for the bacon.”
While I appreciate the offer to correct the order, I felt disappointed by the situation. As a regular customer, I value excellent service and believe that part of effective management involves addressing customer concerns and finding ways to resolve issues amicably. I hope this feedback can be taken into consideration for future interactions, as I believe that a little understanding and flexibility can go a long way in enhancing customer experience.

This is a good place! My buddies and I are here at least weekly for breakfast (ALWAYS fish and grits for us). Food is good and a real casual atmosphere. And the bonus.....the waitresses know what we want before we order. Gotta love that!
