Complete waste of time! We decided to go for the Valentine’s Day celebration they had. It was $200, for 3 course meal 7-10! We arrived on time, the spot was empty probably 5 other couples. We waiting for 1 hour before anyone came to us, 930 rolled around we hadn’t even got an appetizer. Decided to leave and was told that they would not pull. The owner although very polite he was not honest and still charged us for a service we did not receive.

Horrendous customer service and quality of food. By the way, they make you pay for your food before you even get it… and it’s a sit-down establishment. Their trash food is so overpriced. Do not come here.

I decided to take my date to Mimsy Kitchen and Jazz lounge on Valentines Day we waited 3 hours and never even received an appetizer . Eventually we ask to speak with the owner who tried to convince me to get my date out the car who had already left because of the terrible service , he told me he would give me a refund and still charged my card , the tickets were $200 and we paid an advance ! This is the second day I’ve tried to reach out to see if I could get in touch with him he hasn’t responded . Very bad for business I would not recommend going here . The bartender was amazing though, and the performer , best drinks I’ve had in a minute. They both tried to explain , but after waiting so long and not receiving anything it was unacceptable

If I could give this place 0 stars or take stars away from other reviews I would. My husband surprised me with tickets to Mimsy’s Jazz lounge for their Valentine’s Day event. A 3 course meal, a bottle of your choice of red or white wine or champagne and choice of dessert for $170. The event was supposed to last 7-10 PM.We arrived and it took 20 minutes to get glasses of water, and an additional 15 minutes to get an actual menu. Our order was taken at 8:30 PM, well over 1.5 hours after we arrived. We got our bottle of wine from the bartender, as the waitress seemed nervous and untrained. When we asked her about the dessert choice (because the menu only said “choice of dessert, but didn’t bother detailing the actual options), she only knew of the cheesecake. Later, around 10:15 - she informed the patrons seated in front of us that the cheesecake vendor never showed up. I digress. She asked us what we ordered 3 times between 8:30 - 9:45. Around 10:00 PM (the time that the event was supposed to end) we received partially cooked Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. My husband sent it back because they weren’t cooked thoroughly. Around 10:20 they brought a kale salad which consisted of unwashed, bagged kale, carrot strings and strawberries tossed in a bowl directly from the bag. At the end of the night, maybe 4 of the 20 couples attending actually received their food and they confirmed that some of those orders were not correct. At 10:30 I was speaking with the “owner” who informed me I would need to speak with the General Manager for a refund since the tickets were purchased on eventbrite. However, I don’t know what “owner” has less authority than the general manager of any establishment. This was our first Valentines Day as a married couple and the fact that the “owner” was responsible for ruining such an important night is beyond disappointing. And yes, I place sole blame on the owner who already has accusations of not paying his staff, which is probably why they were short on such an important night. You run your business so poorly and with such carelessness about the people who support you financially, your restaurant should be closed. Immediately. After I was provided the general manager’s information, the “owner” tried to persuade me to stay. Miraculously in those 10 minutes of talking, we get ONE to-go plate with ONE meal that consisted of a cup of white rice with parsley on top, two very tiny lamb chops, and uncooked green beans with wilted red peppers doused in what appeared to be oil or balsamic dressing. It went in the garbage after my husband tried the green beans said the lamb didn’t look safe to consume. My husband and I got home at 11:00 PM, after working a full day, and didn’t even have the energy to find another meal.

Very nice intimate atmosphere. Customer service was great! I was greeted with a welcoming smile and seated promptly. I had the luvly croissant with potatoes that was good. However, I ordered the French toast and chicken to go. That was not so good. The French toast were made with dinner rolls that were soggy and had egg on the bottom. I know French toast is made with egg but this was a whole scrambled egg sitting on the bottom of the rolls. I tried to fry them in the pan to get rid of the sogginess because this was the meal I brought home for my daughter and I did not plan to cook so I was disappointed. Tried calling the restaurant before I posted this review but went to voicemail. I would like a refund because that was not worth $19. The picture shows how I tried to fry the rolls and that's all of the egg on the side I scraped off. The chicken was good but the French toast needs to be cooked differently. I do recommend this restaurant because dine-in service was great. I will return if I get my refund.

*deep sigh* I am so disappointed in my last visit. I’ll preface this by saying I’ve been to this restaurant on a few occasions. They have had a presence in Columbia for a few years; however, that may not be known as they’ve changed their name once and location a couple of times. Nevertheless, the service will without a doubt be the downfall of this restaurant turned lounge. The owner is extremely nice and personable, I won’t take that away. The food? Amazing. But the service is lacking. I arrived at the restaurant (party of 2) and we were seated promptly—great! We sat for 20 minutes without receiving so much as a menu before the woman at the bar came up and asked if we’ve been serviced. Evidently not, Miss. Mind you, she stood behind the bar and watched us the from the moment we walked in. She knew we hadn’t been serviced because SHE was the one who should have serviced us to begin with. Our order was finally taken. I was told shortly after that what I ordered was not available—no problem. Here’s where they continued to fall short. It took more than an hour for our food to come out. Most places will wait for the entire party’s entrees to finish before bringing out the dishes, or at the very least ask if you want everyone’s meal brought out at the same time. My food arrived about 15 minutes after my friend’s. By then, my associates food had gotten cold (because who would begin to eat their meal before their guests’ meal arrives)? We were asked if we’d like the plate warmed which was a thoughtful gesture (thanks again to the owner for that). We spent about 20 minutes eating before we just decided to leave. We’d already been there for 2 hours. You would think checking out would not be an issue—well, surprise! The woman at the bar/our server walked pass our table 4 times after we already asked for our check. I quite literally had to get up and stand by the door to signal that we were ready to go! That took another 20 minutes.Throughout this whole ordeal, I witnessed several people sit at the bar only to not receive service. Ultimately, they left (rightfully so). It’s almost as if the woman at the bar neglected us and everyone else in hopes that we would leave.Mimsy’s Staff: improve your customer service. At the the very least pretend you care about patrons’ experience and that you value their time.To the Owner: thank you for the small, yet meaningful gestures. But I implore you, seek staff members who care about your business and patrons’ experience just as much as you do.I cannot confidently say I will be returning.Menu Highlights: great vegan options; American and non-American dishes; tasty alcoholic beverages named after legendary Jazz musicians.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service, food, and establishment were impeccable. We went on a Saturday night. It was not packed and we did not have to wait for a booth. The waitress took our food and drink orders. We ordered the salmon stir fry and chicken salad. I loved the selection of music. From Al Green to The Temptations, I did not stop singing. The food was delicious. Please don't pass up this spot.

The food was good but very pricey . I might go back once in a while. I love African food, and this place is ok if you really craving it and don't feel like to cook.

Nice atmosphere and live band great. We ordered chicken wings waited 2 hours to be told they were out. My auntie and boyfriend were told several times I wings were coming up within those 2 hours, only for her to say in the end they out of wings. Never again. We came to eat and drink. The bar was a long wait as well, with those weak and pricey drinks. I guess to preserve the alcohol.

I viewed their website online, & saw they have live Jazz music on Saturdays. It prompted me to make a reservation for the live music show, which I did. We got there, and noticed there were only 2 other people seated inside, & 1 person at the bar. The hostess told us there was no live/jazz music, and that the website hasn’t been updated. SMH. We decided to stay and eat, another disappointment. I ordered fried turkey wings and rice, my Husband ordered a “specialty chicken soup dish”, none of the food was fresh. Tasted like they reheated all the food from days ago. Service was just OK, the waitress never smiled, she didn’t seem happy about being there. I would not recommend this restaurant, nor would I ever go back.

I have frequented this establishment a few times before and really enjoyed myself. But today was a different story. The lady that was at the bar seemed as though she didn't want to service us for a beer. She didn't bother to acknowledge us until maybe 5 min after we had sat down. She just stood there cleaning glasses. Someone else came in after we did, so she stopped what she was doing to attend to her. She acknowledged us as we walked out stating "sorry about that". The lady, as I was told, is running the place now. It won't last long.

Mimsy’s could be a really nice place to come and chill if the service matched the atmosphere. My Aunt and I walked in and sat at the bar. Only two other customers were there and they were sitting at a booth. The woman behind the bar did not acknowledge our presence or even ask if we would like something to drink. While sitting there a customer walked up and started chatting with the lady and getting her some cigars that she was requesting and we still didn't even have water at the least.Customer Sercive here need some serious attention. This is not how you do business. No smiles what so ever. We got up and left and all we wanted was a Star beer. No food. We were acknowledged when we left!
