Republic Biergarten & Kitchen

Service was friendly. Beer was cold. Place was absolutely filthy. Sticky floors, nasty doors and glass. Wood floor is disgusting. Nathrooms need attention. Sticky stuff on the chairs inside. “A” rating on the door but I’d hate to see the kitchen. Do better.

We used to go here a lot years ago when I lived in Columbia. We stopped by today and it was dead. I wondered why because it was always so crowded back then! We got a beer and realized why. The beer selection is good but it’s Sunday during football season with only red zone and a college volleyball game playing (not any team around here) and the bartenders seem bothered to serve you. Mind you, there were about four customers total and five staff standing around at least. Our beers were empty and they never came back. I had to go take my card to them to close out. Hate to see this place go down like that!! It used to be a staple.

Great food in an unassuming environment.

Arrived around 1130a for brunch and except for 2 ppl at the bar we were the only ones there. Ordered coffee (bc ... BRUNCH) and the only sweetener was sucralose, no sugar. No milk or cream, creamer was expired. Ordered food, took nearly an hour to arrive. Kitchen couldn't have been busy bc the restaurant was empty. Inside was kinda gross, honestly. Floor was sticky. Bathroom was moldy.

Been trying to find a really good restaurant that has consistent good food in Columbia South carolina. At Republic, in the food is fresh made and delicious. Been there twice and avoided just about everything on their menu and we were not disappointed at all. I highly recommend them!

The bartender was excellent! The food was horrible. Fish and chips had no flavor whatsoever. My wife's burger was gross. Even the bun was burnt so badly she couldn't even cut through it with a knife. But the bartender (forgot her name) and hostess were great.

This is a cool restaurant! I went on a Monday afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty dead, through no fault of its own however. They seemed to have an extremely large and extensive selection of beers, so if you're a beer lover, this'll be the perfect place for you! My cocktail (vodka pineapple) wasn't great, but that's probably my fault for ordering a liquor drink at a beer garden, or biergarten.

Surprisingly, my chicken tenders and fries were very good, and far exceeded my expectations! The bartender was also a really cool guy, very nice and friendly!

All-in-all, this was a good trip to Republic Biergarten, and I'm excited to go back on a more lively night in the future!

I have brunched here several times. The service is hit or miss. During our last visit (01 March 2025), our service was very good. The food is good. I definitely recommend doing the mimosa kit, which comes with a full bottle and two juices. You'll most likely have to venture elsewhere for dessert, but Republic is a very functional restaurant for brunch.

Great food, great service!

Very large selection of drinks. We got two beers and then split the breakfast skillet. They serve only brunch until 3PM. The skillet has mixed reviews. It was in no way bad and some bites were really good but it just didn’t give me a wow factor when I ate it. I’d probably order something different next time. However my other half really enjoyed the skillet and would get it again.
