Jan. 2026 Updated Review:
•Wow!!! I came here in June with my husband on the day of our wedding and we had the most delicious food & memorable experience. Since then we’ve come back 2 times, and last night was by far the best!! We were blown away by the new VEGAN menu, which is a full page long (rare around these parts).
We ordered the spring rolls (a must!), tofu bao buns, dragonomiyaki, got dam noodles (the most flavor packed option), and wok rice- *everything was 10/10*. This menu was thoughtfully crafted & full of layered flavors. The portion sizes have also improved, and if you want a large plate of food I recommend dining-in and ordering the dragonomiyaki; it tastes like BBQ ribs! Our favorite dish was the tofu bao- which was light, fresh, and melted in your mouth! We shared everything and still had a bowl of food left to take home.
•The team members are welcoming, and we always love seeing the friendly manager-I don’t know her name but I’ll find out on our next visit (which will be soon!)
•The atmosphere is upscale, inviting, & warm, with low lighting. You can sit at the bar for a sociable experience, or get a table indoor/outdoor for more private dining.
•I would love to give Dragon Room a full 5 stars when the whole restaurant is vegan! The culinary skills we saw tonight tell me that anything on their main menu can be veganized without noticing a difference 💜☮️
Previous Review, Early 2025:
•Service and atmosphere are great, this was my second time going. The items are a bit higher in price and small in quantity, but the quality of food is fresh and tasty. They also have a decent amount of vegan options, which is highly appreciated. My only complaint would be with the tasting platter that I ordered- which had vegan options you could swap out. For the vegan replacement, they swapped shrimp skewers and pork barbecue ribs for ~3 petite sliced potatoes and a scoop of collard greens- aka some of the cheapest vegetables. They have mushroom skewers on their menu, but chose to not swap the menu item with those and/or a more substantial vegan swap

We had such a fun night at The Dragon Room in the Vista! The menu is inspired by bold East Asian flavors with creative small plates that are perfect for sharing — everything felt fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The cocktails were standout too, with inventive mixes that complemented the food beautifully. The atmosphere is cozy and lively, great for a date night or dinner with friends. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend trying multiple dishes and some of their crafted drinks!

SO GOOD!!! This has been the best restaurant I have tried in Columbia. We were able to get a table last minute on a weekend thankfully, and it was so worth the hassle to find parking. The atmosphere is dark and lively, staff was super sweet. The bathrooms were very nice and clean as well! The food was SO AMAZING!! I’ve been thinking about it ever since I went. Can’t wait to come back!!

I enjoyed dinner with work associates at the dragon room. We had multiple small plates that were all delicious, my favorite was the lamb dumplings! The pho and the Nasi Lemak were outstanding entrees with tons of robust flavor.
They have a diverse cocktail menu with a focus on tiki style cocktails. David behind the bar is absolutely charming and brings a flare and great vibe to the already cool ambiance.
The Dragon Room is a great choice for any occasion!

The Dragon Room is one of the coolest spots in the Vista and it really feels like a place Columbia needed. It’s part pan Asian small plates and part cocktail bar, with a fun izakaya vibe and a little tiki influence mixed in. The atmosphere is moody in the best way, great for a date night, a late night bite, or meeting friends when you want something that feels different than the usual.
The food is built for sharing, which makes it easy to try a few things across the menu. The flavors are bold, the menu has a lot of variety, and it’s the kind of place where you can order dumplings or bao, add something grilled, and then finish with noodles or another shareable plate. Everything feels intentional, not just thrown together.
The drink program is a big reason to go. Their cocktail list is legit, and you can tell the bar takes it seriously. If you want a place where the drinks match the vibe and the food, this is it.
It can get busy, especially on weekends, but it’s worth it. If you’re looking for a fun, elevated night out in Columbia with great cocktails and food that actually stands out, The Dragon Room is a must.

I have been here countless times and I can’t stop myself from coming back! If you come here for the first time, you HAVE to get the banchan. Each meal is unique with so much thought put into the flavor profiles. Autumn was our server and she was such an angel I couldn’t ask for anyone else. One thing that I do have to ask from the owners is that they bring back the cabbage pancake! The oko made me come back here three times a week when it was still on the menu <3

I used to frequent this restaurant & they were amazing in their first year! We hadn’t been back since April because we didn’t have a great experience & tonight confirmed that sadly.
We got the Tamaki Crunchwrap, Fried Chicken, & Pork Katsu. The Crunchwrap has always been one of our favorites but it’s different- bland, slices of fish, not enough sauce.
I’m pretty sure the chicken is prepped, cooked & frozen to be refried because the batter didn’t stick to the chicken/crumbled and it was stone cold in the smallest middle of the chicken- but it was cooked.
The pork Katsu was just okay. It was already cut when it came to the table & it was room temperature. Once again, the batter fell apart. The Cabbage was drown in the ceaser dressing (which tasted great but was too much).
The Tamaki Crunchwrap was delivered last- which would be a cold side item so we expected to get that first.
Our waitress wasn’t super present so we didn’t really get to tell her our input- I WILL SAY there is a server who took our photo & delivered our food which has worked here for a while! She is a delight!
It wasn’t busy. It was a Wednesday night.
This was disappointing & I can honestly say I have no intention of returning.
Here is a photo of the Crunchwrap in the beginning of 2025 vs now

I went here back in May and had the three course meal with accompanying cocktails along with my fiance. We really enjoyed our experience here! The cocktails were absolutely delicious, and though we can't say that we LOVED every part of our meal, we liked everything and appreciated the innovativeness of the dishes. Definitely recommend if you are want to try something new! Staff were also great and timed our next courses perfectly and the dining area was lovely and comfortable.

I love, love, love The Dragon Room. The meatballs are amazing. I NEVER order meatballs in a restaurant because they are usually dense, flavorless and I’m picky about meat quality. But knowing this is one of Kristian’s restaurants, I tried them. Now I’m addicted. They are tender, light, packed with flavor. A total home run.
Additionally, I’ve never had a dish here that wasn’t terrific…pork belly, Dan Dan noodles, curry dumplings, lobster Rangoon dip. You can’t go wrong! And, the menu totally lends itself to ordering multiple dishes and sharing.

Wonderful inventive food and cocktails. !! . Do read the menu carefully —- if it says mayo it has mayo, etc. Nothing is premade and everything is as described in detail on the menu, which is not typical of many fusion style restaurants . Plus the menu changes often which keeps things interesting. The management seems very organized and tye servers are friendly .
