Wanted to have an experience here for my first BBQ in Columbia...but the location on Harden street is closed, has a lease sign at the door, and looks pretty much cleaned out.Wished someone would have followed up with Google and Facebook to let everyone know that it closed, even if it was.a bad business deal.

Stopped here for a quick lunch after reading the reviews and it was really good pulled pork BBQ! Pretty much overstuff BBQ sandwiches is what they offer but I had mine without the bread and it was delicious! Excellent sauce selection but it really doesn't need any as the pulled pork is very moist with a nice solid smokey flavor. Great curley fries and tasty homemade cold slaw make it definitely worth the drive from the interstate to the 5 points area near USC. . Although I didn't try any, it had a broad selection of regional craft beers and a very friendly and welcoming wait staff.

I’ve been a few times and my only two complaints is that the service can be a little slow at times but it’s not offensively slow like some places. My second complaint is that you aren’t doing anything constructive after you eat here. The food is so good that your tongue will knock your teeth out the way to get at it and then you can’t slow down once you start. Plan for a nap. All of their sauces are amazing, their menu is small but perfectly executed. For the record, it would be five stars but the last few times I’ve been, it took a little longer to get served than I would have expected since we were the only people there. I will happily revisit and give them the fifth start when I go back and they’re firing on all cylinders.

In an unpromising location across from the Athletics Department's Roundhouse. Southern Belly more than makes up for it by serving some imaginatively designed BBQ sandwiches.I do not recall exactly which sandwich is which - you should go check it out for yourself, Sauces are wonderful, I can tell you thatAmbience is especially good; comfortable benches ride along three wall and the facing chairs are also fine. Properly lighted spaces to relax.Southern Belly is a wee bit slow in delivering food/drinks, but this is account of prep time. Servers are prompt and on hand when you need them.Lots of parking circles the restaurant.I would highly recommend Southern Belly.

Was very excited to check this place out, but I was a little underwhelmed from our experience. We walked in for lunch time around 1pm and it was completely empty and almost thought it was closed. We were greeted soon after and we got our orders put in. Food and drink came out pretty quickly. The sweet tea wasn't sweet at all, and my sandwich buns were completely burnt on the inside so it messed with the flavors of the sandwich. Overall, it wasn't horrible, but I'd rather spend my $30 else where for bbq.UPDATE: We ordered the Southern Belly Dipper and King Kahuna Sandwiches.

Walked into this little place and was wondering if I was going to stay. I looked at the menu for several minutes and then decided to order the southern belly dip and it was far from being just a sandwich it became a great experience and I will try again and again! I would definitely recommend this place…

Not as good as it looks on line. There was some funky smell in this place and it did not appear clean. We ended up just getting some beverages and went to a different place.

The food wasn't bad but reading all the reviews I would have thought our sandwiches would have a good portion of meat- NOPE - I mean only one of our parties sandwiches had a decent amount of bbq on it The white sauce was good so that is a plus **Update - Really this is the owner's response- I mean what this OWNER doesn't know is that our family traveled an hour to eat here and when leaving this review I was being nice not to totally dog this place The food is unique but we would have liked to have had a better experience and response - inflation doesn't make you skimpy on the serving

Damn! Definitely a delicious place, I ordered the Big Kahuna, it was a really good sandwich. I'm visiting from California but will be back to visit and eat here for sure. Turns into a bar at night, looking forward to coming back for the bar experience.

The sauces are very unique and the toppings were a nice change up. The BBQ Bloody Mary was one of a kind and delicious!

Went in thinking it was a full fledged BBQ joint and not knowing it was sandwiches. Was delighted by what we ordered though. The Alabama white sauce was superb.

A simple menu, they do one thing well, great, bbq sandwiches. I'm always satisfied with the food, and it is probably my favorite restaurant in Columbia.

The menu is fairly limited, only 8 sandwiches and 6 sauces, but the food is good. We had the "Traditional" pork sandwich was very good and though the menu said it comes on basic white bread which didn't sound appealing, it actually came on a delicious bun that elevated the sandwich. We tried the Southern Belly and Rebel Red and liked both. The sandwich came with a very good cole slaw, but the portion was too small to really enjoy. It also came with a good sized bag of Lays. We would stop in again if we were in the neighborhood.
