This is definitely a restaurant that has outgrown its location. Very popular, so it can be a long wait time, but it's definitely worth it. The food was all around amazing. There were 6 of us in my party, so we were kind of seated off on our own versus being seated with strangers. There is a lack of seating and it's pretty tight. I wanted to try something different and had the Bayou Biscuits & Shrimp Gravy. It was absolutely delicious and the blend of flavors with the jalapenos was savoring. Everyone in my party was completely satisfied and fulfilled. Between the Country Pork Chop Breakfast, the Build your own Bowls, & the Bayou Shrimp and Grits, everything was amazing, and exactly as ordered. Shekinah was our server. She was attentive, friendly, and even offered suggestions to one of the girls in my party who was undecided on a drink. She got the recommended Iced Biscoff Coffee and she loved it. It was a little disturbance in the restaurant from an unruly customer who decided to throw her drink on the floor, but the staff handled it with grace and patience. It was an overall great experience though, and we'll definitely be back.

The wait on a Sunday was long but to be expected š¤·š½āāļø The food is delicious and certainly worth the wait!
9 out of 10 and would definitely recommend!!!!! Food was top tier!
I had the salmon croquette and added shrimp omgggggg they did not disappoint. The grits were creamy and the croquette were made to perfection. The portion size matched the price well.
As for the atmosphereā¦.. it was ok
The seating was very tight. Like we were almost sharing a table with the guest next to us. The menu was paper and they use plastic ware. Alsooooo they have a limited brunch menu for Sundays only.
Again, I definitely recommend this cute BLACK owned restaurant.

I have seen lots of pictures posted on Facebook regarding this restaurant So I wanted to try something new Today me and my mom share my deceased fatherās birthday by having brunch at The Toasty Hot Spot. I had the shrimp and grits and my mother had the grits with bacon and eggs and toast with lamb chops. The food was seasoned to perfection and everything that we had was very good. I commend the cooks and the owner and also our server Journee which did an excellent job to make sure that Everything was OK.

Crowded atmosphere at 20 people. Excellent management it seems freaking amazing cooks. But the servers don't know the menu asked how big a burrito is they pulled i don't know what to do with my hands from Talladega Nights. Really, and no paper menu may save money but when we pulled out a picture from a previous visit my wife wanted a repeat of they goofed up the order. Not hiring and retaining good servers is a problem nationwide though. But you can tell they don't focus on training the menu at all they just point at a QR code and wait for you to discover what they offer. Even the special drink they advertise in the lobby they didn't know what was in it.
All of these problems still worth the food. Everything is freaking Delicous, trust this fat man!

If youāve ever wondered what happiness tastes like at 10 a.m. on a holiday Friday, let me save you the trouble ā it tastes precisely like The Toasty Hot Spot in Columbia, SC.
Nestled in the heart of Five Points, The Toasty Hot Spot isnāt your average brunch joint with questionable coffee and soggy toast. Nope.
The moment you walk in, youāre greeted by warm smiles and the undeniable smell of breakfast heaven. The decor is playful but grounded ā rustic wooden tables meet bold, bright art that says, āWake up. Youāre here to eat.ā
Letās talk about food, which is the only reason youāre reading this, and why my belt is crying out for help right now. I ordered their Shrimp & Grits, a dish that in lesser hands can turn into gritty cement with floating seafood. But here? The grits were creamy, the shrimp perfectly seasoned, and the Cajun butter sauce pulled everything together perfectly. I did think of licking the bowl. (Out of respect for my wife, I did not).
My wife opted for the French Toast Slam, and yes, āslamā is the correct verb because the thick slices of French toast practically body-slammed our taste buds into submission.Ā Topped with fresh berries and dusted with powdered sugar,Ā it walked that fine line between decadent and āIāll still go to the gym laterā (spoiler alert: we did not).
On the side, we tried their seasoned breakfast potatoes. Imagine potatoes so well-spiced they make your eyes widen mid-conversation. I genuinely considered pocketing a few for the drive home, but decided I didnāt need that level of potato shame in my life.
Service here deserves its paragraph. Our server was attentive without hovering, friendly without forced small talk, and somehow managed to keep my coffee cup filled before I even realized it was half empty ā sorcery or pure professionalism, Iām still unsure.
The clientele ranged from college students fighting off hangovers with bacon to suited professionals getting their caffeine fix before work.
If thereās any downside, itās that parking in Five Points can feel like competing in a Hunger Games tribute selection. But trust me, if you have to parallel park six blocks away and hobble over in the rain, itās still worth it. Bring an umbrella. Bring your appetite. Bring stretchy pants.

Today was my first time at their new location and I must say the service and atmosphere is top tier and the food was amazing as always. Although it was pretty busy, I had a wonderful server name Miya with blonde braids, who was very knowledgeable of the menu and patient with out table. With the amazing service and food, I will be sure to visit again soon!

I recently visited The Toasty Hot Spot on Greene Street and, unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. Upon arrival, I sat for nearly 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me or offered water while I waited for the rest of my party. The service was mediocre at best and only got worse as the visit continued.
When our food arrived, it was completely mishandled. My cousinās omelette was given to another table, and their food was mistakenly brought to him. Instead of discreetly resolving the issue, the staff stood at both tables asking everyone to sort through their omelettes to identify who had what. It was unprofessional and unsanitary.
The French toast that came with my cousinās meal was left sitting on the table and grew cold while they remade the correct omelette ā which took another 10 minutes. Despite the obvious mix-up, the waitress never once asked if the French toast needed to be replaced or reheated.
Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. Poor service, lack of urgency or care from the staff, and a clear lack of attention to basic customer service. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this restaurant to others.

Iāve given this place TWO chances . First I ordered on DoorDash , the chicken wings were literally the size of my acrylic nail + a half full lemonade for $20 . I thought maybe that was just my luck so when they moved locations I decided to take my mom for breakfast. We arrived & asked for a table and they told us there was a wait so we took a seat by the door about 2 minutes later we were rudely asked to leave . We werenāt allowed to wait inside the restaurant⦠like Iām sorry what?
they also had no outdoor seating or any other accommodation.
If youāre going to switch to dine in then at least find a place big enough to let people dine in comfortably.
