Great neighborhood gastropub find. The service was excellent hence the 5 ⭐. Drinks, apps, and entrees were all good. We had the fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, pork belly, Reuben, and BBQ plate. All were tasty. Definitely recommend.

In town gor a quick stop and found this gem via Google search for restuarants in vicinity of the Capitol. Don't let the outside fool you, the food was great! Staff was super friendly. Dont leave without getting dessert!

I always wish I could give 1/2 stars because some things are not worth the full star, but this will do. My husband and I enjoyed our experience. It was our first time eating here. It is a bit pricey so if you're on a budget I don't recommend going or only go for special occasions. We enjoyed our drinks and the cheese board. My husband got quail and waffles, which he loved. I got the bbq plate with ribs. I liked the bbq, but the ribs are smoked, and that's not my thing. Also, the mustard bbq sauce they put on it is a bit spicy, and I'm not one to eat a lot of spicy stuff. I am gluten-free, and I had contracted them beforehand about their options, which they have. I told the waiter I was gluten-free, and that is an allergy, but I was still served 2 rolls on my plate. I just removed the rolls and didn't make a big deal about it, but the waiter didn't even recognize the error when he came and checked on us. We also had the strawberry ice cream for dessert. You are quite packed into the place, so people sit very close to you, making for a not so intimate atmosphere. We overall enjoyed our experience and will probably go back in the future.

Good food and service, cocktails, beer, and wine too. The regular menu is usually supplemented with 4 or 5 scrumptious specials; the short ribs with carrots and taters was divine.Parking: Plenty of parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access, everything is on ground floor.

We have been exploring local restaurants in our town and elsewhere in SC for quite some time, now that our kids are adults and we have more time to do so. We tried the War Mouth for the first time this evening and made the decision that this would also be our last visit. My husband ordered two draught beers, which he very much enjoyed. I asked for tea and was told they were out at 8:35 in the evening. Since I work in food service, that's one of the craziest things I've ever heard because tea is CHEAP and easy. Not having tea available when a kitchen is open makes no sense. In addition, properly cleaning a tea urn and brewer is easy and pretty quick if a person knows what they're doing. We ordered the pimento cheese, he had the pulled pork and I ordered the sparerib from the specials menu, and we took home a slice of carrot cake. The pimento cheese was very good, but the fried saltines served alongside were heavy and just held too much grease for us. We don't eat a lot of fried food, so that's probably why we felt that way about the crackers. When our food arrived, my husband was disappointed to find the pork was dressed with mustard sauce. He would have preferred to dress it as he saw fit, but that wasn't a huge issue. His food was warm and decent. My food was less than desirable. The potato puree was mealy, and I had a pretty large chunk of potato that somehow missed the puree process. The gravy was very soupy, which was ok-ish, but it was more like broth than a rich or flavorful gravy, it tasted heavy (which is crazy for as loose as the gravy was), and was not well-seasoned. I receved two small rainbow carrots (similar to two large baby carrots) which were pretty good, but two small carrots does not a 1/2 cup serving make. The sparerib (along with the potatoes and the gravy) was slightly warmer than room temperature, which did nothing to elevate the dish. The meat was somewhat tender, but very stringy, was underseasoned, and forgettable. Serving sizes for everything (aside from the carrots) was very reasonable. Our server was nice, slightly over-assertive, but overall, fine. Our bill before tax was $90.20, which we would have not minded if the food could have been better than it was. It wasn't bad food. It was just food that the kitchen just didn't put much effort into.

Loved the location and the environment… food was very good .. ribs were amazing! Ordered the Plate dinner with ribs as the second main. The ribs tasted amazing, but it was the end portion of the rib full of cartilage, bone chips and sadness. Experience was slightly off. Would like to come back and tackle a half rack! Server was good. Deviled eggs have too much hype.. solid but not sure $4 for 2halves is worth it.

The food was amazing! We had a table of 8 and everyone loved the food (burger, catfish dinner, bbq plate). The cornbread board was fantastic!!! The reason why I give it such a low score is because of the service. The waiter we had was unbelievably rude. 2 people in our group ordered a sweet tea and apparently they may have run out? We mentioned to the waiter that it was maybe unsweet and then he proceeded to go get simple syrup from the bar and then poured it in the unsweet tea. We couldn’t help but laugh because it was so wild. They then ordered a glass of water and this waiter proceeded to bring out a 6oz child’s cup of water. Another guy in our group tried to order a red bull vodka and the waiter said that the kitchen staff had drank all the Red Bull and began to mouth off with the guy that tried to order the Red Bull vodka. The waiters name was Mitch or Mitchell and maybe he was having a rough day but regardless it’s unacceptable to act like this. We ended up leaving soon after finishing our meal because it was a birthday dinner to go somewhere else for the rest of the evening.

Had the Reuben sandwich which was great. The only down side to this place was that it was Saturday at noon and the they were already out of menu items. Not talking about one thing , like 5 different menu items. Very disappointed. Plus on the lunch side of menu it said you could get macaroni and cheese for a side. But waiter said it was a dinner only item. Also be aware they only have 1 unisex restroom.

Food and service has taken a big hit over the past year or so. The kitchen seems to be taking more shortcuts these days. Frozen fries?
