We just stayed next door for the long weekend and wanted to call special attention to John at Melrose Oyster House - what a great guy! All around best service and so nice and friendly! We ate there 4 times during our quick trip in large part due to John... **and the crab legs** which were amazing deal and absolutely delicious!

Dude jesus christ has anyone working ever heard of the invention of a broom? There was literally a dog walking in and out of the kitchen, and at least I don't need to wonder where the hair in my food came from. I wanted to give it a chance because it seemed like a nice local family owned joint, but the salad to start with was wilted and sad. I would have said something if anyone working there was around to be found, It was 15 or 20 minutes before I got a vodka redbull, like it's literally the three ingredients, and I know for a fact it's not custom frozen ice. I can bike ten minutes and find something better, GOOD BYE

We absolutely loved spending time at Melrose! The food is PHENOMENAL!! The entire staff is so friendly, warm, and attentive! The staff make you feel like part of their huge family! ❤️ I can’t say enough about the pool!! It’s huge and has amazing views of the ocean, the water was perfect and there are plenty of floats available for use! I can’t wait to return! Thanks Melrose for a wonderful visit!!
We dined here twice this week and both nights were beyond amazing. We had a large party of 12 people and the staff was so accommodating. Our servers were Delaney the first night and Olivia the second night, both did outstanding jobs and were very friendly and attentive. And actually all the staff were awesome!
Everyone in our party loved their food, it was all so delicious!
The whole atmosphere was magical!!

John was our bartender, very nice man! Had a lot of stories and information about the island, and was super friendly and attentive! I didn’t get any food but I’m sure it’s great! Definitely go here if you’re looking for a nice relaxing and friendly atmosphere for your vacation!

Great food with an incredible view! My favorite is anything they offer with redfish, but you don't need a knife for the prime rib or filet. Located right on the Calibogie Sound with the Atlantic framed by Hilton Head and Tybee Islands.

The Food came out amazing and quick! Keith and Deb are angels and amazing hosts. Our Waitress Delaney was the sweetest, most attentive waitress. She handled our big crowd very well. She handled all of our needs and made us feel so welcomed!

Buyer Beware (and maybe bring snacks)!
1 star, because I cannot do 0.
My husband and I dined here tonight…if you can call what we did “dining” and not “participating in an expensive food prank.”
The crab nuts were delish!
My husband ordered the red fish. It was seasoned well… by someone who apparently hates moisture. The asparagus was far from fresh.
I got the grilled chicken salad, which I’m 99% sure was just dumped out of a bag that said, “Good luck.” No croutons. Cheese dumped straight from a bag.
We also got peel-n-eat shrimp, an appetizer. Unfortunately, they were cooked so long I wasn’t sure we’d ever get them peeled. This appetizer didn’t come until after all of the food was served - probably because they were being overcooked.
Napkins? Never got any.
Our server? Possibly a ghost. Friendly, but elusive.
And the bill? OVER $150. For that price, I’d like my meal to make eye contact with me and apologize. We ate on the island elsewhere last night for way less and it was chef’s kiss amazing. We were warned about this place by a local… we should have listened.
Honestly, I don’t want a refund…I want compensation for time wasted.

We stayed at a condo in Melrose for 4 days and ate at the Melrose Oyster House twice. We would have eaten AGAIN but we wanted to try another place 😁
The restaurant is located in the Melrose section of the island and has a beautiful ocean view.
It has inside and outside dining, as well as a small grocery inside.
Our server both nights was Delaney who was attentive without being intrusive and very know about the menu.
Our cocktails were delicious both nights. I had the blackened redfish with sauteed asparagus. I am still dreaming about that fish. Moist, not too spicy, seasoned perfectly. The asparagus was also seasoned beautifully. My husband had oysters to start. They came with crackers, horseradish, a fresh cocktail sauce and said they were bring and fresh. He also had the crab cake balls with remoulade sauce. Lots of crabmeat and great seasoning, not too much breadcrumb.
We split key lime pie for dessert that was creamy and lucious.
Last night we had coconut shrimp with Thai chili dipping sauce to start. Excellent coating and shrimp were sweet.
I had to suffer over choosing from the redfish or fresh flounder in a garlic butter sauce and I went with the flounder. Excellent fish, cooked perfectly again.
The atmosphere is amazing there. A great place for a family celebration (there were a few while we were there) and the owners, Keith and Deb, were gracious and wonderful hosts. Highly recommended. The menu has great choices for everyone.
They also had Danielle Hicks performing last night and she's got some set of pipes! Excellent singer.
Don't miss this restaurant when you're on the island.

New management and a great hidden gem. If you are on a day trip, bypass the marina crowds and head to Melrose.
We were a family of 4 and 2 small dogs and were able to eat amazing meals each time we went. We ate lunch with music and met great islanders.
We have been going to Daufuskie for the last 14 years and we are so happy to see the Oyster House begin to thrive!!
Dining inside is expensive but you get what you pay for!!! And it was delicious!!
