Wish I could rate it 1 star. The food was overpriced and not that great. We waited over an hour for our food while also being the only people there for the first 20 minutes after we ordered. The server Kris had no idea how to do her job. There was a point where I honestly wondered if she even put our order in when we ordered it. I’m very disappointed. The only thing I would recommend about Coot’s is to completely avoid the whole establishment.

There is absolutely nothing good to say about this place ... to say the service was bad, wouldn't be an understatement ... other customers around us were all having issues as well.
Food ... $22 for a shrimp and flounder plate seemed fair ... until it came. The portion was so small you couldn't feed a child. Had to ask for a fork which never came. Had to ask for napkins which did eventually come... after I had eaten my fish and shrimp with my fingers ... And the list goes on and on .

The wings were good and service was decent. The mixed drinks tasted cheap and watered down. $72 for 10 wings, fried pickle chips and 2 drinks, 19% of that is taxes and fees. If you’re going to stop in, drink beer and bring cash to avoid a 4% cc fee.

The servers smiled and polite. They were very nice. But it took an hour to get sodas and tea. We watched the server sit at the bar and said I cant make your drinks bc the new girl needs to get the ice. The ice was 15 feet away from the bar she was chilling at. This was after we moved inside bc no one came out and another small table already had ordered and had drinks from the other server. She was friendly but there was zero urgency to just get us some sodas for a family of 6. Its on the ocean. Its beautiful. Very few restaurants bc its secluded. But the price of the meal for hamburgers and a personal pizza was expensive. But it took almost 2 hours to get food and drinks. Good burger. Great great pizza. But the price of the meal and the limited selections of restaurants just showed the server knew she was gonna get her money so there was no urgency or care to just give basic good service. I tipped %25 bc thats what I do but I was disappointed bc when when our food arrived including us about 15 people in the restaurant. Went to High Tide the next night, completely different service and experience. This restaurant benefits from sitting on the ocean and the owners have invested alot in an elite pizza oven that is incredible and quality food. But the quality of service is holding this place back. Got another week planned and Ill spend the whole week at High Tide or grilling out. Not a place to take a family. You want to sit at the bar as a single and grab a beer and burger? It would be perfect but out of town families beware

I liked Coots … a lot. Perfect beach dive. Beer was cold, sun was shining, food was over sauced (and that’s not a bad thing). Deck is splendid. Don’t expect to get a table on the deck in season. The waves crash right under you - feels like you are on a pier almost.
Sit there and just watch the Pelicans go by. Back and forth. Another Bud. Back and forth. Crown on the rocks. Back and forth. I could keep going - you get the idea.
If you are expecting fancy - it’s named Coots - drive into Charleston.
Coots is so perfectly Edisto. Never change ya ole Coot 😘
Edit: Porch is dog friendly - inside may be too - not sure.

I'm not sure if we went on an off night or what but it wasn't the best experience. There was only one server who had an attitude most of the evening. My husband ordered pizza which he never received despite other patrons who arrived after us receiving their pizzas. When I asked the bartender (because the server was busy) to take his pizza off the bill and print our check, she acted like she didn't want to. We were there for over an hour and his pizza never arrived. We did have a good view of the ocean and that's the most positive thing I can say.

Stopped by after a day on the beach to grab a bite to eat. Walked in , room was so loud you could barely talk to the person next to you. When the waitress finally showed up she said they were busy and hadn't cleaned the tables but could take a seat. Asked about sitting outside and she stated if we sat outside or would take forever to get service because they were short staffed and could barely keep up inside. Well the rest is history, we just left and ate elsewhere.

Maria, was behind the bar, and she was the rudest lady I have ever met. I’m in my 60’s so that’s saying something! I won’t be back!! Worst experience I’ve had In my life..
