Whitaker's offers a delightful sushi experience right in the heart of Fort Mill. With a 5-star rating from the locals, it's clear that this place has made a positive impression1. The menu features a variety of Asian cuisine, including sushi bars and cocktail bars, perfect for those looking for a mix of flavors. Customers rave about the original sushi rolls and the good variety of flavors. The happy hour deals are particularly enticing, offering great value for money. One unique aspect of Whitaker's is their house-infused cold sake, which is a nice twist for those accustomed to hot sake. The ambiance is described as hip and modern, making it an ideal spot for a date night or a fun evening out with friends2. While the location can be quite loud, the quality of the sushi and poke bowls more than makes up for it, with many customers claiming it's the best sushi in the area. The service is also highlighted as being on point, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. In summary, Whitaker's seems to be a fantastic addition to Fort Mill's downtown dining scene, offering fresh, flavorful sushi and a vibrant atmosphere. It's definitely a must-visit for sushi lovers and those looking for a lively spot to unwind.

Amazing addition to Fort Mill! The food is fresh and the sushi combos are to die for and the drinks are great! I've been back many times since it's opened - easily my fav new restaurant!

This is a relatively new, Japanese fusion restaurant in Fort Mill...and I believe it's a small, growing chain...as there area 2 other sister locations...another one in SC, and one in Georgia. The place is small, but long, sleek and nicely layed out. Decor was minimalistic chic, with some cool lightings showcased in the bar area. They also featured cool overhead music, but it was on too low. Acoustics were quite loud in there, and I thought maybe louder music would have worked better. The bar area itself was really nice, and I appreciated their comfy high chairs. I know this because initially when we arrived at around 5:30 pm, the only seats available were these high chairs by the bar. Luckily, we were able to move to a dining table as it opened up about 5 minutes after we were seated at the bar area. Once seated, we ordered several items to share....Spicy Garlic Edamame, Dragon Roll, Glazed Unago & Avocado Maki and Glazed Unagi & Avocado Pressed Sushi....and finally, this Matcha Cheesecake. Everything was good...but I was most impressed with the dessert. Not only delicious, but loved its chef-inspired presentation! Sadly, that was not the case for the sushi rolls. While delicious enough, the presentation was disappointing. Even for their Pressed Sushi, the presentation was a bit weak...looked nothing like the picture I saw on Yelp. Of all the sushi rolls, think the Dragon Roll was actually the tastiest. I also loved their Edamame...especially so because of their unique spicy sauce! For drinks, my husband got beer (as usual!)...OMB, I think? I got the Neon Coconut...and again, a bit disappointed. The presentation was a yawn...again, nothing like the picture shown on Yelp. The taste was good, but not as strong as I like it. For some reason, I expected better cocktails here...stronger alcohol, and again, fancier presentation. Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant...but sadly, there were some disappointments. Service was quite slow...but it was a packed house, so understandable. Also, again, I thought they could have cranked up the presentation of the sushi rolls (and the cocktail!). Still, I felt they deserved at least 4 stars...such a great addition to Fort Mill!

Whitaker's restaurant was an absolute delight! What a great addition to the Town of Fort Mill! We kicked things off with some edamame - simple, yet so addictive. But let me tell you about the shrimp tempura roll - it was a game changer. The sauce on top? Heavenly! And we didn't stop there, we tried two other rolls, each bursting with flavors. The star of the evening, though, was the key lime pie cocktail for dessert. It was the perfect sweet note to end on. Trust me, every bite and sip at Whitaker's was a taste adventure!

We went at 4pm. The bartender moved so slow that it took 15 mins to get our first drink, and she did not change her defiant pace as the bar doubled back with customers. This was the beginning of the terrible experience. We were served putrid salmon...they then replaced it with more fishy/putrid salmon...the explanation was that the salmon carpaccio was finished with fish sauce, and that was why it was fishy. We were left with empty glasses the entire night and every dirty dish left sitting with us. They attempted to double charge us for all of our drinks,as well as, charge us for the bad salmon. No manager apology...no cares. Just attitude and us getting $50 removed from the receipt before we finally agreed to the pricing. Unacceptable. I will never return.

House burboun 4 bucks it was average .wines five dollars. My partners told me was nice . We Will return.

Food was great, service was great, and ambiance was super cute and cozy. Only complaint was that they ran out of some ingredients for certain dishes which then we could not order. Over all was great sushi spot!

It's just alright. They really did a nice job with the remodel but the food was just mid. The blossom roll was the best with the most flavor but the jersey and deluxe were bland. 2 tacos were good but pretty basic for $14 and we liked the crab dip. We'd go back but it's not gonna be a frequent spot for us.

Really good deal for their happy hour, otherwise the prices are on the higher side. Original rolls are great, good variety of flavors. Only odd thing is they don’t serve hot sake. NO HOT SAKE. We tired their house infused cold, nice, but not the same.

Short recap - management is rude, disrespectful and doesn't appreciate or value their customers and lacks common courtesy. The place doesn't take reservations per their website but I am arranging a birthday dinner for 9 ppl so I call. The hostess says no we have to walk in no reservations per the manager. I said that's ridiculous and we want to go there but aren't going to wait all night with such a big party and they just lost close to $1k table if we go somewhere else. Most places at least reservations for 8 or more. I asked the manager to call me back or I would post a review and she never did. She has zero respect for her customer's time or common courtesy to return a phone call. I will not go here.

Horrible attitude with Brooklyn. We tried so hard to make friends and simply see a smile from her. We won't be back if she's bartending. Our food was excellent! However we had to ask numerous times for refills, forks, napkins, etc. we gave a generous tip but felt like we needed to do so, simply because we felt like she was judging us as non tippers. Did I say l she can't smile?

Whitakers is our favorite sushi place! We are locals and go pretty frequently and have always had a great experience. We went on 1/2 price sushi night Wednesday (4-6pm) and Lin was our server. Although it was super busy with the deal they do she provided great service and was so nice and fun. We sit at the bar sometimes too and the cocktails are SO good. Can't say enough great things about this place- great food and great environment!
