I love Alex’s and am so glad this establishment is still running! Best “diner style” breakfast I’ve had in years. This is a real local Charleston monument. My pecan pancakes were delicious. My son loved his cheeseburger.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. We got there at 6:45 and didn't get our food until almost 8pm. We had grits, eggs and pancakes. When we did get our food it was missing part of it and that didn't come out until we were almost out the door. Two different couples came in after us. They ate and were leaving by the time we got our food. I wanted to come back and try the daily specials but after this I don't think that I will. 😕

It was my first time there I felt very welcomed from the time I walked in the door.. the service and serving staff was efficient and professional. They were very accommodating and they were very patient cordial and polite . And the food was great

I waited a long time for water, walked in sat down was greeted promptly, server came over asked what she could get me to drink, I asked for ice water, 2 apparent regulars walked in and everyone was trying to take their order, 10mins later I am being asked again by a different server what I ordered to drink, she could she that I never got my drink, ordered my food at the same time since I had 10mins to look the menu over, order country fried steak, was a burger patty fried, nasty, hasbrowms were soggy and oily, biscuit had a sour smell to it so I didn't even eat it, I spit out, eggs were tasty, I ate all of them. I know Alex's is an old diner and caters towards a specific demographic, but there is no reason that I waited 10mins for water, I sat at the front of the restaurant, you could have gotten me a water in less than 1min and still had time to flirt with the regulars, disappointed but not surprised

We went for lunch and the food was Amazing I got the fried pork chops with rice/gravy and collards. I’m very picky about my collards but I haven’t tasted collards that good since my childhood. Food brings back good memories of good cooking eating… don’t get rid of you cook that’s for sure
