This was our favorite sushi restaurant and we would go weekly, but we found another once they stopped serving sake. It goes so well with sushi. Ms. Lee was our motivation to go occassionally because she made sure everything was perfect in the restaurant, service and food. And we just loved seeing her! Well last night we decided to go and was very disappointment from the moment we walked in. We were asked "can I help you?" And I replied "we are here to dine in." She rolled her eyes and said "sit where ever you like and I get you a menu when I can find one, I don't have many." They were not busy at all. The bathroom was dirty, the restaurant was dark, dingy and in poor shape. The server (the person that greeted us) was not friendly until it was time to give us the check. The sushi and miso soup were not good either. Needless to say, but MsLee no longer works there.I do not usually put reviews like this out there, but I was so disappointed! We have gone from it being our favorite restaurant to one I never plan on visiting again.

Miso soup had lukewarm water, no bean curd, ZERO seaweed and 4 tiny cubes of tofu. It was terrible. When I called to complain, I was told that the onion soup "didn't have anything in it". I said no, I ordered the Miso. She said she would try to refund me but if she couldn't I would have to call Postmates. That's fine, but then I tried the rest of my order and the rice tasted stale in my sushi. Very bland, no flavor like the miso soup. I don't know what happened. They used to be better. Sushi 101 on Saint James Avenue in Goose Creek is a great place to go for delicious and well prepared sushi and much more. I really like the location and everything that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need.

Came in for a sushi dinner with my fiancee on a Saturday night at 630 expecting it to be busy. I was happily surprised when there was no wait, only to see absolutely no one in the restaurant which made us a little hesitant. We were given a menu by the "hostess" who couldn't be bothered to even stand up and show us to a seat. After we sat down we were approached by who I thought was our server and asked us for drinks. When we ordered our drinks, we went ahead with our sushi order. A few minutes later another server came up to our table and asked what we would like to order. We informed her that we had already placed the order with the first person who came to our table and took our order, so no worries. Well, a few minutes after that, the original "server" came up and asked what we would like to order and I explained to her that she had already taken our order. We decided to leave after that because if a restaurant can have that degree of mismanagement with only a single table, I don't want to risk eating raw fish at such an establishment. It might explain why there was nobody else dining here...

I do want to say the waitress was nice. But the food was NOT. My husband, baby, and I went there for dinner. We ordered a kids hibachi steak meal. Two spicy miso ramen, one Volcano roll, and one Emperor roll. I would say presentation was good, but the taste of aquarium fish water quickly changed my mind. (Eating the Emperor roll)I couldn't swallow it, so I spit it into a napkin... and that's not normal for me.I sent it back and we were still charged of it. Which is fine I guess.But we were not impressed with this location. You can definitely find better elsewhere.

This place used to be great. They have recently gone way down. Last time I was there they had an open outlet box in the dining room. Additionally the cleanliness of the place, it was disgusting. The tables were sticky, the mens restroom looked like someone had been collecting boogers from picking their nose all over the wall, sink, everywhere. Not sure if I will be visiting this restaurant again, I can excuse slow service but the safety issues and cleanliness I can’t.

It is hit or miss with Sushi 101. Initially when they opened it was great. Now your sushi may be teeny tiny or sloppy and not staying together. They've continually have had health violations which means new management over and over. The staff is 50/50 depends on who you get. Definitely miss the old days.

Something has got to change with this place.Went there a few months ago. The food quality was much better and the portion sizes were different but I can't say that today. The sushi was room temperature when it came out. Imagine ordering this to go or for delivery. By the time you get home it would be even worse. The entrees were bland and had no flavor. The steak was cut into tiny pieces and had no seasoning or color. The chicken was also cut into tiny pieces and though it had some good flavor, the texture was chewy. The appetizer arrived last. We didn't get a bowl or anything to put our discarded edamame and put them on a napkin. We barely ate our entrees and even sent back one of the plates. We were offered a 10% discount since we didn't enjoy one of the plates. When I asked why the dish wasn't removed from the bill, I was told that it had something with the food, what was eaten, and the manager having the final say. My partner and I discussed and both agree that very little of the food was eaten. My partner barely even touched the rice on her plate since it was so "off." I asked for the manager and they weren't there. I paid for my food. And left.For the price of what we paid, you can get higher quality/better tasting and a more elevated dining experience at competitors and leave with extras at the end of the day.Something has to change about this place. I've been going there for YEARS. Even been to the Summerville location and have had great, quality, food in the past. But I cannot recommend going there until something improves. I hope a manager or owner does reach out to me, because I felt bad for even complaining to the waitress since it's not her fault. And she did the best she could.

We ordered 6 rolls, not specialty rolls, just plain rolls. and were told it was $48 and change. My husband went to pick up and they told him $62! We ordered from Kanji, added an extra roll, and it came up to $47. We’ll just stick with them from now on! The absurd thing is that if the had only added a few extra dollars, I would have been mad, but I would have paid it to avoid waiting for someone else to prepare it and I probably would’ve forgotten about it. I promise that won’t happen now! Even 9 rolls at Knanji would’ve been less and frankly, they are way cleaner!

Very disappointed in sushi 101, this is not the first time that we have ordered from there and we have had some issues in the past but when you live in goose Creek you don't have a lot of sushi options. I called in a pickup order 9:45 and they close at 10:45. When I got home to begin to eat our meal, I noticed that all three of our sushi rolls we're not the sushi rolls that we ordered and again this is not our first time at sushi 101. Each one was either was missing something or something added to it that was never added before. I am pretty sure whoever made my sushi roll 1, doesn't know how to make sushi and 2, doesn't know the menu. So after noticing this I called back up to sushi 101 to let them know so I could have my sushi remade and they did not answer the phone and when I went up the doors were locked and this was all before 10:20. It is very frustrating when you spend over $60 for food and it comes out the way that it did and then you can't get any customer service to rectify the issue. Needless to say, I will be going up in the morning and speaking with the manager and showing them the pictures of the sushi that their sushi chef is making because I'm sure they'll be shocked and hopefully concerned about the product they're pushing out!!!!! #moneydownthedrain

Would not suggest ordering for pickup here… I’ve bought from here before and they’ve added salmon to my roll through their sushi 101 app for pick up. The app allows you to add things like extra sauce and fish for your rolls. If you are not going to add the things I payed for then *PLEASE* do not have the selections that allow for change! I asked for no tuna in the dynamite roll, and it was still there, then I payed $3 for salmon and spicy mayo to be added which was not on the roll. I also ordered the Crunchy Wasabi roll and payed $1 for white sauce which was not on the roll… gas is extremely expensive and so I of course do not plan any time to go back over there let alone so bring them a couple sushi rolls they made wrong. I just want my $4 back of product/food they did not add to my rolls :/ we also tried to call and they refused to refund me for the $4Update 5/3/22: still no $4 refund. Thanks for nothing :)

I used to order sushi on Saturday for lunch and never had a problem. Food was fresh, made correctly according to any special instructions, I was hooked!Bought the one year membership and all.However, I started to place my orders on Friday evening, and ever since, the quality has gone down and there is usually always something wrong with the order.They typically will make it right by the customer, which I want to acknowledge, but it gets worse and worse each time I go.It’s disappointing because when it’s great it’s GREAT, but the afternoon/evening crew on Friday’s has always messed up my online order.I hope this gets changed because I do like supporting this business.

I have never had any problems with sushi 101! When I 1st moved here during the pandemic, I ordered from them and having a severe sesame allergy I was very nervous about ordering ordering over doordash...Well it's been 2 years now and I have had NO reactions from this place! I was finally able to dine in for the first time today and the food was phenomenal! I was so impressed with the presentation and careful attention to detail as well as the kind customer service and of course, the willingness to work with my allergy. So if you're thinking about ordering i highly suggest you do! My husband and I will definitely keep coming back!!
