This review is for the Big Dave's food trailer that was setup on 153 in Powdersville, not the restaurant.... I had high hopes for this place, but left a bit disappointed. Showed up early on a Saturday wanting to try their brisket. They didn't have any. They hadn't run out. They just didn't cook any that day, even though their menu lists it. Not a big deal, I decided that I would try their pork plate instead. While the BBQ was good, there are several things that I didn't like. First, the BBQ is chopped up very fine. I prefer pulled pork (to each his own though). Second, they doused my pork with their sauce. Whenever a BBQ joint automatically puts sauce all over their pork without even asking the customer if they want it, I think that they're trying to hide something. Why not let the customer decide whether or not they want sauce? Better yet, put a bottle of sauce outside the trailer and let customers put their own sauce on, like most BBQ restaurants do. Also, it'd be nice if they offered some options for sauce as well. All they have is a tomato based sauce. I had the baked beans and mac and cheese for sides. The beans come straight from a can and definitely haven't been baked. The mac and cheese was decent, but I've had better. My final complaint is the price. $15/lbs for bulk pork is about $3-$4 more than most BBQ restaurants charge. If the pork was outstanding, I could justify spending more for it, but it's not. Also, for $10, the pork plate I got was pretty dang light. It had about 6 oz of pork and fairly small portions for the two sides. Definitely not a good value. My advice, drive a few miles down the street to Mutt's and pay $10.95 for the buffet where you can eat all the pork, ribs, smoked chicken, sides and desert that your heart desires.

After so many 5 star reviews I decided to give this place a shot. I should have listened to the 1 star reviews. The restaurant itself is fine. It appeared to be clean and the service was good. There was just me and one other table in the restaurant at noon on a Saturday. Probably should’ve been clue number 1.The brisket was chewy and tasted dry and old. It had a good smoke ring but the flavor was bland. They claim Texas style bbq but there wasn’t hardly any salt or pepper on it. I think they probably use their own dry rub that’s lacking in those two departments. The pork was simply inedible. Zero flavor! It was woefully undercooked for proper pulled pork. It was very chewy. It’s like they cooked it to an internal temp of 180 degrees and then chopped it into small pieces. Pork butt is minimum 195-205 internal temp and it will fall apart in your hands. The nice lady asked if I wanted a box for the pork that I took 2 bites of and I said……No.1/2lb pork, 1/2 lb of brisket, and tea….$34 including tip.Check this one off the list. I won’t be back.

The food was simply OUTSTANDING and the service was truly great. Kayla was exceptionally kind, professional, and personable. I had the BBQ Stuffed Hot Dog Basket. I have eaten this dish from other BBQ places in the upstate, but truly Big Dave's BBQ is the absolute best! Plus it’s all at an affordable price. It is certainly a must try. I can't wait to go back again.

I went to Big Dave's BBQ for the first time for lunch. I got a brisket sandwich plate with Cajun fries. The brisket was tender and had a good smokey flavor. The sauce went really well with the beef, not too sweet, not too tangy. The fries were crispy and the Cajun seasoning was a nice touch. The wait staff were nice and that's always a plus. I'll be back to try the pork next.

The bbq and the slaw is so good. Love the sweet tea as well. Not a fan of the sweet potato crunch which was disappointing because that’s the main side dish I look for in bbq restaurants. It wasn’t good at all. Customer service is great. Everyone are kind. Very clean atmosphere which is a thumbs up ??

Brisket and pulled pork (on the toaster sandwich) were some of the best we've ever had. Oh, and cajun fries! Bought some sauce for home and appreciated the kind service and hospitality.
