The short review: food is cold, items may not be fresh such as the fish, cornbread, or vegetable sides, and the atmosphere is bland and boring. Dine in if you want a quiet place to eat but if you're looking for a vibe or any kind of energy at all, don't expect it here. The beverages are just over sweetened Kool-Aid that don't have much flavor but plenty of sugar. I just left this restaurant and the only pro that I can think of was that it's quiet and mostly clean. The food was soooo so soo sooo subpar though, I wouldn't have imagined it. For starters, the mac and cheese was at the very very VERY end of the pan and instead of the woman just changing it and then serving us, she served my brother the literal actual burnt corners of the pan. There was about one solid scoop that could have came out of the pan, but nooo, she saved this corner of macaroni and literally scooped my brother the burnt edges from around the pan. I asked for fresh mac and cheese and said that I would wait so she swapped it out, but the mac and cheese was literally cold to the touch as if it had came out of the refrigerator!!!! Prior to her changing the pan she said that it was on the way out of the oven. No way this macaroni was even heated up! It was so very cold, along with many of the other food items like the baked and bbq chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and the fish. The fish had been sitting out so long that it had a funny texture. She did offer to fry some fresh fish AFTER she fixed the plates, but since we weren't thinking that it was suupppper old we opted to just get the fish that was already served and man was that a bad decision! The fish had absolutely NO flavor, it was not hot, and it was obviously past the point that they should have gotten rid of it. By the point in the meal where we discovered this though, between the cold mac and cheese, flimsy fish, dry cold chicken, and not so great sides, we were already over the food and knew that there was no fixing it so we just didn't waste time complaining. Just chopped it up as a loss and definitely agreed that we will not be back! Was there anything that was good? Yes. The yams were decent If you like them sweets! The fresher mac and cheese honestly seemed like it would have had potential if it was hot but cold mac and cheese literally tastes like nothing and I didn't feel like having them heat it up after I was already told "it just came out the oven." The greens were borderline but they were the only hot thing on the plate so I'll give them a thumbs up. The cornbread had flavor but it was not fresh and it's a little on the thinner drier side. The lady making the food had decent customer service but the woman on the register, who I think is her mom, has nooo apparent interest in being in that restaurant, doesn't seem to understand the technology on the register, and definitely does not have any customer service skills. Little to no greeting, no warm feelings, and overall seemed distracted with her phone or whatever. Idk, the vibes were just really off. The restaurant was completely empty other than me and my brother and we still received less than bare hospitality. Very dry mood. For an empty restaurant, you think they'd be happy to see somebody actually want to dine in! ??‍♀️

So you get a good amount of food ok the meat with three sides but this is not high quality food. The greens are good but the bbq chicken and smothered pork not so much. This is not really a soul food joint, it's more like mass produced cafeteria type food. Ladies are nice though.

I'm big on southern food, I recently moved from GA and my family owns restaurants. Since being in SC I wanted some soul food that had everything to offer. This restaurant is amazing and the service and prices are equally as good.

I went the first time, it was decent. Everything was cooked to perfection. Seasoned, tender, fresh. But today I went and...everything tasted like it was cooked in vinegar. The macaroni tastes spoiled :(The green beans have no salt and flavor aside from vinegar. We spent $35 for two plates. We came early, around 11:40AM. Cabbage also tasted old. Overall, very disappointing. Inconsistent and will not be back.
