Sakura Japanese Steakhouse

Our waitress was fantastic but the host was rude and unwelcoming. Barely looked up from her phone before not saying anything to us and seated us. They charge $5 to change your fried rice to lo mein noodles. Rice had no flavor, chicken and shrimp were way over cooked.

My family and I came here after my brother’s medical school graduation. None of us had ever been to a hibachi restaurant before so the idea was very exciting. We all ordered the vegetarian hibachi dinner. It comes with soup and salad. We are all vegetarian so we thought the soup and salad would be all right. The soup broth contains chicken, which a staff member was kind enough to inform us about. The salad came out very quickly and we all started digging in. Delicious dressing and crisp lettuce. A couple bites into the salad, I found a LIVE COCKROACH in my salad. Suffice it to say, we left immediately. The staff did not charge us and we did not wish to wait around for a manager to apologize as the incident was disgusting. From the service perspective, they did a great job in moving quickly and I have nothing but good things to say about the behavior of the staff. Cannot say the same about the cleanliness of their kitchen. Would avoid coming here if you prioritize a hygienic kitchen.

My family has been eating here for 11 years. The owner has always been rude but we have looked over it as all of the other employees were always friendly. We have been there many times when others were sat ahead of us when we had reservations and we didn’t. Time and time we looked over it. They are usually understaffed, and mistakes happen. Today we go in and there in absolutely no one in there. There was three of us and the owner resides to seat us saying that it would be an hour and a half. I ask if there were reservations ahead of us because I didn’t understand. She wouldn’t say anything. We left. It breaks my heart to post this as it’s been our go to for many years but when I say this place was empty I mean it and she refused to swat us or give any explanation why it would be so long. You lost a long time, very frequent customer today.

This place was amazing! We had a great cook and he did an amazing show! He entertained the whole table, including my 3 & 4 year olds! Great service, friendly and the food was amazing! Thank you guys so much! And to the people who were sitting with us, thank you so much for paying for our time out! You guys didn’t have to but thank you 💜💜 I hope you guys see this! Jess and candy!

Best Hibachi Around and the Sakura Roll is hands down best sushi roll in upstate!!!!

Food is decent but if you are going to close before 3 than you need to change what you have on door.

I lowkey love it here! I didn't expect to enjoy it but I was genuinely surprised! There was also alot more food then we were expecting! 🤩😋 Would definitely recommend! 😁

We came for my birthday lunch meal on Sunday March 2, 2025. The cook was upset that my father requested no sauces to be used on his salmon, and decided to leave the salmon cooking while leaving the hibachi grill unattended after everyone else in attendance had received all of their food aside from my father. The cook continued to leave the salmon on the grill until my father asked the cook if it was done, to which the cook replied, “you tell me: is it?” in a standoffish tone. The cook then proceeded to attempt to add the sauces for the third time when removing from the grill, to which my father, for the fourth time, requested the sauce to not be added (once to the waiter, and three times to the cook). The fish was over cooked beyond well done for several minutes at that point, and the cook continued to argue with my father stating, “do you want to come cook it, and take my job?”
Bottom line: If you want an argument over how the food you eat is prepared, and you want the food to upset your stomach then Sakura is an option. If you instead want quality food with friendly service: go to Compadre’s in the same strip.

Food and server was great!!! I ordered a Crown and Gingersle,for $7.50 the drink was watered down,overall everything else was great!!!!

they are so rude

This is one of my wife's favorite places. We love sitting at the group table so that the chef can entertain us with his cooking skill, acrobatics, and jokes,. The portion of food is large and the price is very reasonable.

Best hibachi place in Greenville.

I went here tonight for my niece's birthday.
Our server, Jenni, and the whole staff were Great as was the Food and Presentation! I will definitely be going back!
