We had the perfect date night at Sum Bar. Sawyer, our waiter, was fun and answered all of our questions. We ended up ordering half the menu, including an out of this world short rib special. I got the cocktail with the green bean syrup. It was worth trying something so unique. The hotteok (pancake) was absolutely delicious. We will be back many times over!

Excellent experience all the way around! Great bar tenders, delicious food, and swanky relaxed environment. My new favorite restaurant in downtown. Everything we tried was beautifully presented with unique flavors and textures. It was a truly an outstanding experience, a real standout in Gvl. Highly recommend!

This was our third or fourth visit. The owner, Khailing, warmly greeted our entire family at the front door. Our server, Tyra, was very attentive and even provided entertainment for our youngest. We loved the green beans and bao bun special but the star of the show was definitely the desserts this time, a matcha cheesecake and a mango sorbet with a rice topping.

We had a great experience overall at Sum Bar in Greenville. The food was absolutely delicious and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality and creativity of the dishes. The atmosphere was relaxed and stylish — perfect for a night out.
The only downside was the service, which was slower than expected. Our server was very friendly and apologetic, but it seemed like she had too many tables to handle. We ran out of water and drinks a few times and had a bit of a wait to settle our bill. Despite that, she did her best to stay upbeat and attentive when she could.
I’d definitely go back for the food and ambiance — just hoping for a better staffed night next time!
We placed our name on the “waiting list” for 2 adults. The host asked for our phone number and let me know it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. After an hour with no notification that our table was ready, I checked in with the hostess and I got the impression they did not have it together. I was informed, “sorry for the wait, lots of people have come into the restaurant.” I then asked if I could just place a to-go order and was told the kitchen is not doing to-go orders at this time.. The hostess asked another employee how much longer our wait would be and I was told it would be another 20 minutes as our table was finishing up dessert. I confirmed they would text my number once our table was ready. After waiting another 30 minutes, we left. 18 hours later and still no text letting us know our table was ready. Extremely disappointing experience and we will not be back.

My experience at Sum Bar was truly unforgettable! From the moment I called to update my reservation from 3 to 4, the staff was incredibly accommodating. I mentioned we were having a Girl’s Night Out to help lift a friend’s spirits during a tough time, and they went above and beyond to make us feel special. The service, atmosphere, and overall experience were absolutely top-notch. I can’t recommend Sum Bar highly enough—this place knows how to make a night out feel meaningful and memorable!

We had the short ribs, sesame balls, green beans, chicken won tons, veggie dumplings, and a pineapple ginger mocktail. Every single bite = out of this world.
