I have utterly adored this place for years. The food is very authentic and the atmosphere is very homey. I am devastated they closed down because of mean landlord. I hope every day they recover!! Please come back!

If you love the idea of an authentic vegetarian Indian home kitchen-- delicious traditional Indian cuisine, served simply and unpretentiously, at very reasonable prices... well you should go to SWAD. I had not been since the original Indian owners sold the place, but was delighted to learn the sweet story of how they passed on all of their culinary secrets to the new owners-- who meticulously maintain all the original recipes and cultural ambience of the original. Feels more like being in India than in Greenville. It is a charming, welcoming place, clean and neat as a pin. Delicious and super reasonable.

I really enjoy the food here! When the original owners retired, I was worried Swad would be no more. But thankful new people came in and are keeping it alive and well! Just ate there the other day and it was delicious!

ALERT Under New Managment .....good reviews must be from the previous owners.I was so sad after my last visit to the restaurant.As soon you walk in you can feel, smell and see the difference from the previous Managment.Food looks very bad, presentation was awful and service was worst.So sorry but all about this restaurant need to be change.

Worst restaurant ever!! Don't ever come to this restaurant. Absolutely waste of money. The money and time spent here felt wasted. My friends tried ordered dosas waited for around 20 minutes and then they came up to say that the dosa batter is over. One friend of mine order paneer tikka masala and naa , which was also tasteless. The naan seamed like the frozen naan made hot. The samosa chaat had a little taste that also due to the chutney. The food without onion garlic was absolute tasteless, but the regular food on the menu ordered by my friends was also a big time disappointment. The person who served was a really jolly person, none of his mistakes, but the food had absolute no taste. It felt the frozen food was cooked and provided, specially with the naan. The bhel felt like the packet bhej was poured in a bowl and served. You pay for the food and the service, and it seemed from their attitude that they are doing us a favor. Would never recommend anyone going here.Vegetarian options: All the food is vegetarian but is really not worth eating it.Dietary restrictions: They don’t have any edible options for dietary restrictions without onion and garlic. The only option of sev puri and bhel they provide is packet food that they pour it in a bowl and serve you.
The samosas are so good. The thali was amazing and filling. My little brother got the veggie burger and it he said it was amazing. The fries that came with his burger were perfect. And they had a spicy ketchup for them and that made it 10/10. I love swad.Vegetarian options: Everything is vegetarian.

This place is definitely not "fancy", but that was a lot of the appeal for me. A very "hole in the wall" vibe. They even have a section to buy a bunch of the spices that they use. The staff is knowledgeable and considerate. The food is exactly as advertised, authentic home style vegetarian or vegan Indian cuisine.

Swad used to be my favorite restaurant. Loved getting food from there for my southern Indian family who raved about its authenticity. To my disappointment, the quality of food has dropped substantially with the new management. The dosa was bland and the naan is more like pita bread. Generally, it just does not taste like Indian food anymore. I will be giving it another try after a while, and I hope things improve.
