Currently, very relaxing and comfortable. The only negative would be the local construction surrounding the Hotel.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Hartness a week ago and I am still dreaming about it! It was a staycation and business stay, as I live not too far away in Charleston, SC. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. Michael, at the front desk, helped us carry our luggage in a luggage cart to the hotel room, which was a suite! Mr. Bonasia, director of sales and marketing, upgraded us to a suite which was stunning, clean and very spacious. The huge balcony overlooked the pool, pond and firepit. I could just move in there! The soaking tub in the shower was luxurious and the cozy robe was unforgettable. My favorite part of the experience was dining at the Patterson Kitchen + Bar. We enjoyed old fashioneds and they even had a smoky version which I HIGHLY recommend. Chef Veronica and crew created the most stunning dinner. I was blown away. As a chef in Charleston, SC, going out to eat is always a real treat and I was blown away by the chefs' talent and creativity. The wine list was extensive yet purposeful and paired nicely with the menu. The breakfast bar in the morning was delicious and the staff was incredibly kind. Fresh coffee, thick-cut bacon, creamy greek yogurt, the perfect scrambled eggs were my favorite things. The entire hotel is gorgeous, from the landscaping, to the architecture, to the interior design. Every nook and cranny is intentionally planned. We are already planning a trip back, and I cannot wait. Thank you for your hospitality, Hotel Hartness!

Atmosphere and staff could not be beat. Room and food was above 5 stars.

The food and atmosphere is the only thing saving this review. The service was absolutely terrible, the waitress hid behind the bar the whole time. We were told there were no kids options after being told earlier in the day that there were. They do not service to the outdoor seating. We were also rudely informed there was no option to send anything up to a room. Guests spent way too long waiting on the waitress.

This is not a food review, but I wanted to leave a review of the place in general so the management knows they need to do better. We live in the area and thought it would be fun to check out the bar for lunch/apps. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes and nobody ever came. That’s a long time to sit. There were 3 other customers eating, so we knew someone had to be close by. Two staff members even walked right past us sitting around & spoke to another gentlemen eating at the bar, so they should have alerted someone that new customers were waiting. We waited, thinking someone would come after a while. No such luck. I don’t think this will ever be a bustling hotel, so it would be nice to have this as a local dining option, but there is no way I would waste my time here when there are so many other options in Greenville.

Highly recommend The Captain for a tasty cocktail experience! No need to order off menu as they have a perfect selection of specialty drinks to taste your way through. I enjoyed one both pre and post dinner. A charming space to settle into and enjoy libations and small plates.

I don't remember our bartenders name! But she was amazing and went above and beyond to make me a drink that I was happy with! I don't drink much, and she put all of the things together that made a perfect drink for me! The atmosphere was so relaxing and my husband and I enjoyed our date night!

The Captain bar proved to be a genuinely enjoyable spot for a laid-back afternoon. The atmosphere exuded relaxation and casual charm, creating a perfect setting to unwind. My choice of cocktail, The Sailor, was a delightful surprise. Its impeccable balance of rum and pineapple/lime juice made it a true standout, satisfying my taste buds with each sip.Our culinary adventure took a delicious turn with the Buffalo Wings and Beer Cheese Fondue. Both dishes were not only delicious but also served with a comforting warmth that added to the overall experience. The Buffalo Wings delivered a flavorful kick, while the Beer Cheese Fondue was a creamy delight that paired exceptionally well with the accompanying bites.Adding to the positive experience was our bartender, Tom Smith. His friendly demeanor and attentive service elevated our visit. Tom checked on us multiple times, ensuring that we felt well taken care of throughout the lunch. The Captain bar offered a relaxed ambiance, standout cocktails, and delicious bites that exceeded expectations. The warmth in both the atmosphere and service, highlighted by the friendly bartender, Tom, made this a memorable experience that I would gladly repeat.

We spent a few nights staying at the Hotel Hartness and had dinner here our first night. It’s a very cozy and cute space and we enjoyed several really good cocktails and a very yummy meal — we split one of the salads, the beer cheese appetizer, and the chicken sandwich. The first bartender we had was very kind and fun. However, we stopped in a different night for cocktails and were greeted with “We’re closing; I can serve you one drink.” That’s fine. Actually we only wanted one cocktail anyway, but it wasn’t the most welcoming way to be greeted … after making that comment they took forever to actually make the drink and tab us out. And it was a very meh espresso martini. So I think it depends on who’s working and what you order how your experience is here, but it is convenient if you’re staying in the hotel. But after an extremely underwhelming experience dining at the hotel’s (rather expensive) restaurant the Patterson, I would choose this option over that.

What an incredible hidden gem! The Captain's Bar in the Hotel Hartness is absolutely fantastic. Food, drinks, atmosphere - all top notch but were completely eclipsed by bartender Jason's tea brewing skills and knowledge. Charleston tea company has nothing on this man!! Oh, and serving gin in a teacup - brilliant!!

Alex the bartender is probably the rudest employee I've ever met at any hotel. I've been here three times now and it'll be our last. I rant about this place to everyone and it'll be my last. Do better this place is going downhill if they continue to employ guys like this.

The Captain has been a wonderful atmosphere each time I’ve gone and the bartenders are personable. Jason, our bartender, made delicious Espresso Martinis & went out of his way to make us feel welcome! He is truly a class act always - thank you!
