Highly recommend. You expect it to be good because of the reviews. What is the surprise is that it lives up to and exceeds your expectations. From the Zuccini Blossoms to the Osso Bucco to the wine and desserts - magnificent and understated. 10/10
One of the best meals I have ever had in San Diego! Also great value for restaurant week, to be able to try 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. Amazing wine selection. The service was OUTSTANDING! No one walked past our table if there was a dirty dish or empty drink. It was a wonderful experience.
The service was excellent. We had the shrimp squid ink pasta dish and the halibut, everything was delicious.
What a wonderful restaurant! Walking in felt like going into someone's home. We were welcomed with a smile and a warm greeting. The atmosphere was lively and ambiance and decor were warm and handsome. The menu was innovative and the servings, plentiful. Pasta and pizza were outstanding . The filet and lamb were tender, delicious and beautifully presented. The Caesar salad was delicious and true to the real Style. The eggplant parmesan was light and perfectly seasoned. Our waiter was professional, accommodating, knowledgeable and timed his service perfectly. We have already recommended Solare to several of our friends.
Way too noisy. Could be easily fixed with table cloths and tables that didn't require 2 diners to seat four feet from each other. Was not a pleasant dining experience
The Eggplant Parmigiana was excellent as it usually is. Great salad with wonderful light olive oil based dressing and a wonderful ricotta cheesecake.
My 2 girlfriends and I went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful lunch. The waitress seated us in the wine room, which was perfect! Two of us ordered the original lasagne, which I would order again! Great lunch before going to Sip and Paint at Pinots Pallet!
Having been to this restaurant a number of times, we expect the food to be tasty, well prepared and often delicious. Once again, our dinner yesterday was delicious. The fresh focaccia served warm with olive oil went perfect with a yummy white wine from Tuscany as well as a non-alcoholic beer that is my wife's preferred drink and we greatly appreciate when restaurants serve them! 2 excellent salads, the Caesar and Burrata, were well prepared and very flavorful. Followed by a nice pappardelle bolognese and one of the best eggplant parmigiana I have had in S.D. Thank you Solare for another great dinner!
We attended a wine tasting that included food options. We chose the special menu Chef Denise created to complement the wines. The food was perfectly paired. The wines were new to us and all something we would consider ordering again. Tommy provided individual attention to each table for wine descriptions. Service was excellent. Once again, Solare more than met our expectations.
We love this place! Never miss an opportunity to dine here whenever we are in SD. Randy and his staff do a consistently superb job!

Great server. Didn't rush us and listened to us on what we wanted. Main courses were good, The ravioli got great reviews. Great service. Good food.
We had the best time at Solare. It reminded me of a true Italian restaurant, not over-modernized like a lot of the spots here in San Diego. All of the pasta is made in-house, and it was so good. Our server was outstanding and made us feel like old friends. Pizza was AMAZING (hard to come by in SD), bread was fresh, and the pasta was unforgettable. I will definitely be coming back.
The only place I get tamales. The baked goods aren't what they once were, the baker went back to Mexico.
We were celebrating three birthdays. Waiter was most accommodating and all of our food was excellent. The celebration was really special.
Meh. To begin our table was in a small corner. I sat with my back to the dining room staring at a wine wall only 8' away. We should have asked for another table. We started with a glass of wine and arancini. It was delicious, but each ball was tiny. The romaine lettuce in the Caesar salad was rusty. When the waiter came to clear our plates he asked why we hadn't eaten the entire salad. I showed him why and later when we received our check he had taken it off the bill. We each ordered the special spiny lobster, the entire reason we decided to try Solare. The lobster was cooked and seasoned perfectly. However, the pasta was flavorless. The dessert of gelato and 3 small slices of flourless cake, which were the size of cookies, was ok but not special. We had high hopes when we decided to give Solare a try, but unfortunately we will not return.
