This was probably my sixth trip to Sam Kendalls in Hartsville. I have to wonder if this is as good as it gets? The food is mediocre at best and sometimes even disappointing. The prices are high compared to the quality and volume of the food. Unfortunately, I'll go back only out of necessity and stick to the salads which are very good.

Me and my lady love this place, but I am very disappointed. We came this evening and were seated promptly, but then 30 minutes went by, no one spoke to us, brought us drinks, or even acknowledged us. I even went to the front and pointed out to the hostess we had not been seen, almost 15 minutes went by after that. They were not overly busy and I am extremely disappointed with this experience.

First of all the atmosphere in this restaurant is awesome! The best thing we ate was the creme brûlée. Other than that… the food was meh. Ordered a steak medium… it came out well well done. Ordered a warm bacon dressing salad…. Dressing was not warm … it was cold dressing and salad as basically all spine not much else was in there. And lastly, ordered lobster hot pot which I assumed was supposed to be a little lobster casserole. I’m Not sure what I got but see pic attached. It was interesting for sure. This tasted like ritz crackers ..butter… and cheese. Not what I was expecting! Hopefully restaurant was just having an off night.

fantastic dining,hidden in small town america. atmosphere is huge here,well done,right in town,well placed bar,and open environment, good for big occasion dining,but open enough to make a date feel private. food and service are very good. pricey,but well worth it.

The service was great, Rachel took care of our every need promptly and politely on a busy Friday night. The seafood pasta and caesar salad with chicken were great. One end of the restaurant was a bit noisy, but we were seated on the other end and it was quiet enough for easy conversation.

We went for my birthday at 7pm and they were not crowded we didn't get dinner until 9 and then the steaks were cold and tasted like rubber, pork chops tuff and the lobster salad slimy. After speaking with manager he offered no apologies just said he would take it off the bill. We were still hungry and the issue was not solved after the second attempt. They put steaks back on the grill switched them to opposite plates and at this point we were ready to leave. Everyone around us had eaten and gone. I was utterly disappointed

Pork ribs were excellent, ribeye was tough, garlic potatoes extraordinary - I'm hoping it was just an off night for the ribeye. Atmosphere - lots of folks eating so quite loud.
Sarah was great and outgoing to serve us great food and conversation. She deserves a raise. I'll go back for sure.

Bridget was very attentive and prompt with our food during our meal. She checked on us more than expected and she gave really good service. Sam Kendall’s is such a nice dinner place, we have visited many times and have never had a bad experience. The drinks are good and the food is yummy! The timing was perfect between appetizers and salads to our main course. Thanks for the great service Bridget!
