Alexanders is a real gem and has been around for over 45 years. We were engaged here, 45 years ago.. a lot of great memories and the service and food are fantastic.

We have been to Alexander's many times and have always had a good experience. Never inexpensive but always enjoyable. This last time though the service was poor. After our waiter took our order we never saw him again until the check came, the mussels recipe has changed from a lovely broth to what tasted like jar tomato sauce with a few capers tossed in. Thick and unappealing. I hope they change it back to what it was. Lastly we asked about a couple bottles of wine, our server said he couldn't comment and when asked if someone else could advise us he just suggested something they served by the glass that he was familiar with. Again, disappointing.

First dining experience at Alexanders. Angela was fantastic, professional and efficient. The food was prepared perfectly and was delicious. Love the atmosphere!

We ordered Oysters on the halve shell, and Alexander's cooked Oysters. The raw Oysters were fresh, delicious, and large. I found the cocktail sauce to be especially tasty. Not the usual cocktail sauce I have ordered at other restaurants. I am not sure what “special” ingredient was that they added to that mixture. The cooked oysters were also delicious. I thought the cheese on the oysters would mask the taste of the oysters, but to the contrary, the cheese seemed to enhance the flavor. I ordered Shrimp and Grits, and my husband ordered the Blackened Snapper. The shrimp and Grits dish was rich, cheesy, and contained a generous amount of shrimp. The Blackened Snapper was beautifully cooked and the bed of rice, collard greens, and raisins was an unusual and sweet accompaniment. Oh yes, we also ordered salads. House salad for me, and the Caesar for my husband. The greens were crispy and cold. Both of us thought the dressings of blue cheese and Caesar, could have been a bit stronger tasting. Alexander's might be our favorite restaurant on Hilton Head Island.

Service was the difference as we had a younger child who needed extra help in terms of ordering for her early, switching a high chair out, etc. Food was excellent in all courses, too!

Sadly this place is seriously under staffed they'd do better to block some tables and provide decent service. We sat at the bar for a pre- dinner drink and never got to order Food was so-so. Our prime rib was tough and without any effort at presentation. There are no acoustic baffles and you could hear loud groups in the bar from the dining room. Not a good choice for a special night.

A restaurant that seems to overlook doing the little things right. Ordered the low country crab soup and it was delivered by a team member without a spoon. Had to wait a few minutes to grab someone's attention. Filet mignon entree delivered without a steak knife. Again had to wait to get someone's attention. Food was good but when you don't do the basics right you gotta wonder what goes on in the kitchen.

We had Donna as our server and she was exceptional. We ate there twice during our trip and absolutely loved it. Highly recommend to anyone.

Kid-friendliness: They have an excellent kids menu and the staff is very kid friendly.

We selected Alexander’s to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and really wish we hadn’t.
At $50-$100 per plate we were hoping for a nice meal and exceptional service. What we got instead was average food and the worst server I can remember. Our server David W left us waiting to order appetizers while he took orders from other tables that arrived after us and when he finally did get to us he took my appetizer order and started walking away completely ignoring my wife. I actually had to call him back over to finish our order. We expressed our discontent to the Hostess hoping things would improve and nothing… David W continued treating my wife like a ghost. He never checked in once to see if the food was good or if we needed anything. Just unbelievably bad service.
What should have been an enjoyable night feeling welcomed at an establishment and a little bit spoiled turned into a disaster we couldn’t wait to leave. When I booked the reservation I specifically mentioned it was an Anniversary and would have appreciated just a little special treatment. The hostess even noted this when we checked in so it wasn’t unknown. I would never return to this place or recommend it to anyone!!! Mediocre food is disappointing but happens… the way we were treated is inexcusable.

My wife and I had an excellent dinner. In addition to the great food, the Hostess and Waitress were very kind, welcoming, and terrific at their jobs!!!

Wish I could give this restaurant 10 stars! Six of us celebrate our birthdays together, and we had visited Alexander’s last spring. When I walked in, the Bartender recognized me and welcomed me back. The service throughout the evening was absolutely fantastic, friendly, efficient and proactive. The food was wonderful, and the prime rib on the early dining menu would feed three people easily! When we left, the manager met us at the back door which has a ramp, and held an umbrella over my husband’s head the entire way to the car, while he put his walker away, and while he slowly got into the car. She was friendly and chatted the entire time. What lovely people, and they truly made my birthday very, very special.

Wheelchair accessibility: The ramp is towards the back, with handicapped parking at the base of the ramp. The door looks closed, but pulls open easily. It is a very good ramp, not slippery when wet, and not too steep.

What a great place to eat. We ordered the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. Very generous portions also. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The wine menu is great. Had a table of four and our waitress was very friendly. She let us enjoy our time together. Highly recommend.
