I was really excited to go because you had to make a reservation a month out. Our waiter Ashley was amazing she sweet was so kind hearted. As we were eatting the manger Patrick made sexual joke to our waiter. As I was about to pay Patrick said this was you last day at this establishment to our waiter Ashley. The food also had a weird taste to it. I will not go back to this restaurant if that is how they treat their staff and customers with dirty joke. I rather go to smoke house where I know the food taste good.

We just had another outstanding dinner at Charlie’sWe came early to secure a seat at the bar. The two gentlemen who man the bar are wonderful, professional and kind. They make the experience even better. I ordered the soft shell crab that was prepared fried. I asked if the chef could sauté it and it was no problem. Absolutely delicious!! Can’t wait to return!

Three of the four of us were sick after eating dinner at Charlie’s. All three of us ate the Yellowfin Tuna. I called the manager the next day to let him know. He said it was because we ordered it rare (which is always how I order tuna) and highlighted the disclaimer at the bottom of the menu. Very unfortunate because the service was very good and the Caramel cake was yummy.

I would love to give a five star review but a member of the service team set the tone for the evening. A sharp critical remark at the onset followed by efforts to rush the removal of plates while we were still eating cast shade on a lovely meal. This attitude in a dining room speaks to lack of training and poor supervision. I expect more from a restaurant of this quality.

This is our favorite restaurant on the island for a reason. For several reasons. And we have been coming here every year several times a year, for the past 20+ years, I believe. The best rotating menus, of fresh fish, and nice included side dishes. Food, Service, atmosphere, and ambiance total out as a Five ****experience! !

There's always a pleasure eating at Charlie's. The food is almost always excellent. And our evening was no exception. Well, the Oso Buco was a bit dry and very small for the price. For my two cents, you can't find a better restaurant in Hilton Head. But, like all the others, the prices have gotten completely out of control. But I am a big believer in spy demand and the restaurant was full so, my hesitant at the price is not shared obviously. I highly recommend it if you've got the pockets to pay for it.

We had a fabulous meal but I doubt we'll ever go back and certainly won't recommend Charlie's to others. Our waitperson, Leticia, was one of the most rude servers we've ever encountered. We thought she might just be having a bad day & tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. When we asked questions about the menu, she gave short, curt answers, usually looking the other way as if she had something better to do. She was not helpful at all & seemed totally disinterested in helping us with menu choices. Other tables around us got much different, friendlier service from Leticia. Observing how she interacted with two other tables adjacent to us just exacerbated our situation. We arrived happy & in a good mood because we were celebrating our anniversary. We chose this restaurant because of its history and reputation on the island. We kept asking each other if there was something we'd done. We wondered if we had somehow provoked this behavior but it started the minute she walked to our table. We try to be kind & considerate people. We've also been in business & know the importance of customer service. The 'service' we received bordered on hostility. We were surprised that such a storied Hilton Head 'institution' would treat any customer—local or tourist—like this. Interestingly, other staff—from the people who brought bread, wine, & food to the person who cleared the table —were friendly, pleasant & attentive. Her behavior was so bad that it was hard to enjoy the delicious meal the chef had prepared. We didn't want to ruin the evening by confronting her or saying anything to other staff, so we kept quiet. I for one couldn't wait to leave the restaurant. This was a memorable experience but for all the wrong reasons. We're both still pretty raw from this experience.
Delicious bistro style food, primarily fish, properly prepared and served steaming hot by a professional wait staff. Charlie's is one of the best, if not the best restaurants on HHI. I have dined there from its humbling beginnings in the late 80s at its original location through the present at its charming French bistro on New Orleans Road. In addition, it also has an extensive wine list of well regarded wines. Although we don't live on HHI, we are regular yearly visitors and Charlies is always our first and most frequent dining spot.

However, while sitting at the bar in our hotel, a frequent visitor (30-year veteran) suggested we go to Charlie's instead. We changed our plans and I'll simply say it did NOT disappoint!Great service from the moment we walked in. Wonderful drinks and the food was exceptional! This is not your fried shrimp and hushpuppies kind of beachside joint....it's real food and employs professional wait staff who know how to be attentive without hovering. We closed the place down and never felt rushed or as if we were over-staying our welcome. Highly recommend!!

Loved the ambiance of the dining rooms. The filet mignons were delicious along with sides. The chocolate mousse and caramel cake were a perfect finish for our meals. We will be back!! ❤️
