Gruby's New York Deli

Decided to try breakfast here and it did not disappoint. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. Waiter and staff were very nice and friendly. Prices were very reasonable. A definite stop when we visit the island again.

Excellent turkey rueben and the best homemade fries! Caesar salad was huge and great! Friendly staff and cool atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Godfather sandwich was ok. Not alot of flavor, mostly just meat and cheese taste. Also got charged extra for sharing a sandwich. Service was good.

The wife got a NY deli sandwich... so piled high. She loved it. My Reuben was perfect! Onion rings were tasty - half order enough for two people.

The breakfast menu looked really good. May have to come back for breakfast before we head home.

I heard that Gruby's has been around HH 30 years (!). Somehow we've managed to miss them. Better late than never. This is the real deal - a wonderful, well run diner style restaurant serving outstanding food. We got omelet plates, Greek and the Deli ? which had corned beef, pastrami and 2 kinds of cheese. Both were big, served hot and the home fries are really special with little strings of crispy fried onions - all clearly made fresh - and 2 slices of toast. My Wife's Greek omelet was a top notch version of this staple, stuffed with hot sauteed spinach, etc. They are clearly taking pains to put great food on the table, unfortunately a effort rarely made these days. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. We sat outside the restaurant in a covered area where unfortunately an enormous ceiling fan was running creating quite a breeze. Umbrellas on some of the tables fixed that but take note. Frankly there are not a lot of really good breakfast places on HH. Watusi has some good stuff but is a bit precious. Southern Coney is a dump serving lowest denominator crap. From my experience, just from one visit, Gruby's is at the top of the heap. Can't wait to go back for more or a nice deli sandwich for lunch. Highly recommended.

This is a quaint restaurant with good food. The staff is kind and polite, offering local insight on things to see and do. The coffee and eggs are hot and even though many people are on beach time, they do well to get you in and out to continue with your day.
The breakfast sandwiches are hearty and they do not skimp on the meats. It is a great way to start the day. The lunches are great too.

Had a hankering for a sandwich and stumbled across Gruby's. OH MY! It was the BEST Sandwhich I can remember having. Fresh bread, freshly cut tender meat. I didn't want it to end. The tenderest corned beef and pastrami you will ever have. It was so good I drove 20 minutes out of my way to go back the next day for lunch as well. You don't need to go to New York to find a good deli because this deli is better than any I found in New york. I can't wait to go back.

This is a hidden gem on HHI. Wife and I had a great breakfast. Right away greeted and asked if we wanted coffee. Food was cooked perfect. The bagels are legit. Our server was very friendly and checked in on us just the right amount. Will definitely come back.

I stopped by this New York-style deli and was impressed. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was everything you'd hope for—crispy bacon, perfectly cooked eggs, and melty cheese on a fresh roll. The French toast was just as amazing—golden, fluffy, and with just the right amount of sweetness.

Prices were more than fair, especially for the quality of the food. The service was excellent—fast, friendly, and attentive. The owner was incredibly welcoming and made the whole experience feel personal and genuine.

If you're looking for a classic, satisfying deli breakfast with a warm neighborhood vibe, this place is a must-visit. Can't wait to come back!

Very good sandwiches but do not come with sides. Salads were good but wish they put as much meat on them as they did the sandwiches. Neat place and authentic food. Service was alright. Great lunch spot for sure
