Thank you for the response and explanation. Five staff members calling out on the same day makes it rough on everyone. I plan to return soon and increased rating due to the unforeseen terrible circumstances. This review is directed towards the lack of personnel and poor scheduling. Stopped in for lunch on Friday, beginning of March Madness. I really did not require any assistance from a hostess and a good thing because there was no one stationed at the stand. There we about 15 people sitting around the bar, which is where I chose to sit. Also, another 25 to 30 people sitting at tables near the bar. The bartender was the only person working the bar and tables. No possible way that one person is able to take an order, return to the bar to input the order, prepare drinks for the order, and return them to the guest's table while maintaining contact with the remaining guests. The bartender is very personable, knowledgeable, professional, and seems like a nice person. He assists with items due to having food allergies. I placed the food order with the bartender along with a red wine. The food arrives and I start looking around, no rollup has been provided. Bartender is too busy for me to gain his attention, so I walk a few bar stools away and grab a few paper towels from a roll sitting in the bar. The bacon cheeseburger and fries are good and enjoying them until I have nothing to drink. Bartender stands directly in front of me while keying in an order, I ask for another wine when you have a chance. The reply was to verify the wine I had been drinking and stated back in a moment or something similar. Well, I'm still waiting on the glass of wine. After about 10 to 15 minutes of pretty much waiting along with a couple more bites of food, I call it quits. Hamburger had gotten too cold and now a slight rubbery texture, which required liquid to wash down, of which I have none. During this time I watched one person seated on the other side of the bar, get up, walk to the other side of the bar to speak with the bartender. Something to the effect, I have been sitting at the bar for at least 10 minutes and no one has come over for an order. It is time to go, so I wait and wait, until bartender is keying in another order directly in front of me, and I ask for the check. Now, the bartender asks if I would like another glass of wine. It would not have helped anything, but wanted to say, yes that would have been great about 20 minutes ago. I receive the check and bartender has to attend to other guests. I waited for a few minutes and thought I had already been waiting on a glass of wine for half an hour and still waiting and not waiting that long to pay, so I dropped money on the bar and out the door.I just closed on my new home and live nearby, so I'm looking for a decent place within walking distance. I'm not sure yet whether I plan to return or not.Whoever is in charge of scheduling really missed it this time. I am guessing that tips had to be below the norm and how much business may have been lost as guests may never return.Dietary restrictions: Multiple gluten-free items and bartenders can assist as well

The Wings were not seasoned well nor fried hard enough. Sent the 1st order of wings back and the second order was still not flavored so I decided not to order anything else closed out my ticket and left.

Every year we come to Hilton Head and every year we come to this Tavern. Sad to say this will be our last time. Service was terribly slow. We ordered apps and lobster bisque before our meal. The pretzels came out and they were very good. My soup came out with my meal which was okay but not how I ordered it. My kids got wings and my wife and I ordered burgers. She ordered it medium and I ordered it rare but both came out well done. The bisque was NOT good at all its like the cream was separated or it was not fresh. We tried to flag our waitress but she never saw us or didn't want to see us. Our appetizer dishes were piled up on our table and to make room for our dinner plates we had to remove the center piece that held the condiments. Halfway through our meals we were asked if everything was alright. I did express my disappointment with the bisque and how bad it was. I barely touched it. With how slow the service was we didn't want to ask for properly cooked burgers in fear of waiting even longer. The only thing that went well was how fast we were seated and how quickly we got our drinks. It went all downhill from there. At the end of our meal we asked if we could have the bisque removed from the bill which the manager did have it removed. This was at one time a good establishment and we looked forward to eating here every visit but no longer. Sorry to say.

My group of 8 showed up 2 different times in the span of a week. The first time the host rolled her eyes when she saw the size of the group and the wait was long so we left. We came back later that week and it was pretty dead. We were told it was a 15-20 minute wait. We waited for 45 mins as about 6 groups that came after us were seated. We asked again how much longer, to which the response was “I don’t know”. It looked pretty cool and we wanted to enjoy it, but that’s ridiculous. And now the owner responds like I spoke a foreign language and I can’t respond to him. When we got there it was dead. We waited 45 mins outside as it got busier and busier. Every group that showed up after was seated as we were left waiting and still told “I don’t know” how long the wait will still be. Cool looking place, idiot keyboard warrior owner lol.

Came here for March Madness since we were informed it had a lot of TVs and was a sports bar. Unfortunately the basketball game we wanted to watch was not on, although gymnastics, wrestling, bowling, & golf were all on multiple TVs. It’s March Madness but less than half the TVs had basketball on?! It was busy and our server was clearly overwhelmed. Our request to put on a specific game was never accommodated, we were told lots of people wanted specific games but the manager was “busy”. Our server seemed to be avoiding us b/c he knew our game wasn’t on… but that only made things worse. Service/food was insanely slow and in the end we decided to cut off our night here, skip the next round of drinks and retreat to our villa to watch the game and drink another beer. Food was average - on par for sports bar - “thick cut bacon” was super thin. We definitely won’t be back.

Sat at the bar, and were greeted warmly by Adam, the bartender. Exceptionally nice sports bar, well laid out with outdoor areas for dining or having drinks. Adam was very cordial. Food was very good. Had a nice made to order salad, selecting a base of spinach or various lettuces, then can add assorted toppings. Reuben sandwich was also.very good. Nice place for lunch!
