This is a great little secret in HHP. We arrived at 5:15 and only a few tables were taken. By the time we left, the place was nearly full. They had one bartender serving the entire place and maybe 2 waitresses. But, they had another problem---their internet was down due to the afternoon storm. This is forgivable.
Always enjoy our time at lagerhead, whether it is brunch, lunch or dinner. Food is great and wait staff wonderful. Ricky always makes us feel like family. Love having this restaurant right in my own back yard!
We eat at Lagerhead quite often and have always enjoyed the peaceful ambiance of the patio and excellent food however last night the noise level was very loud mainly from one large table of (maybe) family and all our meals were overcooked 🙁 Our friend and my husband both had the fried flounder - way too much breading and overcooked. My fries were overcooked and hard. So sorry but the chef needs to know.
Food and atmosphere we're good. No complaints there. But the service was terrible. We didn't see our waitress for about 25 minutes. I ordered a beer and she never brought it. Our drinks were left unfilled. We had to find another employee to track her down and get our check. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant.
Food and service were excellent. Salads were delicious. The Honeybee Chicken Sliders and the seafood platter were both perfect. We highly recommend!!
The food was fine and reasonably priced, but we won't go back because of the very high level of noise.
Went for Father's Day five adults and two children. Was the worst service I have ever experienced here. Had to ask several times to get our drinks. My daughter‘s meal was not served with the rest of them. One of the appetizers wasn't served until after everyone received their meals that is everyone except for my daughter. We had to ask a couple of times to get her meal delivered. When we received the bill did not realize they added a 23% gratuity because we were a party of six or more quite honestly this was not service that would have deserved such a gratuity, but my son went ahead and paid it when he received the credit card receipt. It was for a different amount than for the detailed itemized receipt. It was off by $30 . They claim the difference was because they forgot to add the drinks onto the original receipt but added a flat $30 to the total, which makes no sense based upon the cost of those drinks, the tax in the supposed gratuity. Have had excellent experiences here in the past don't know what happened. The food was all pretty good. It was just the worst service ever.
Unexpected find in Hilton Head Plantation. Great menu and very nice decor with a great view of the golf course. It stormed while we were there, but the patio dining area still kept diners dry. Food was fantastic, as was the service. I highly recommend!
Our server Michelle was great. She brought our dinner out exactly how we requested it after we asked for it a specific way!! Very pleasant about everything. Chris the manager brought our dishes to our table smiling and checking to be sure we were happy with our meals!! Loved my chicken piccata Thank you!!! Great spot for dining.
Once again, we had a great meal here! My sister and her husband, and they both loved it. We will definitely be back again soon.

Another wonderful dining experience. We were four ladies celebrity two birthdays. Three of us had the early dining baby back rib plate, and one had the shoulder steak. We were all very, very happy with our choices. Michele, our server, is a sweetheart. She brought out dessert plates for us for the cake when we were done, since we were allowed to bring our own cake in. She couldn't have been more helpful. Absolutely my favorite restaurant on the island. And we will certainly be back many more times.
We enjoyed the calm quiet atmosphere. Although it was perfect for our family to enjoy discussion and laughing. The waiter was friendly and engaging and food was delicious! Definitely recommend!
Everyone in the neighborhood knows, but a hidden gem to most. Hang out after your round for sure. The service is the best on the island. Ricky runs his butt off, Sean hustles, they all really work to make your meal awesome. From the steak salad and fish dishes being great to what my kids think is the best hot dog and fries you can get, it's awesome.
My wife and I met another couple here for lunch. This restaurant also doubles for golfers on the Oyster Reef course in Hilton Head Plantation. Service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry, so this wasn't an issue for us. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos (you get two and no sides) and my wife had the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich. My tacos were very tasty and loaded with shrimp and fixings. I like spicy food and the tacos had the right amount of kick with the sauce and seasonings. I would get these again. The PR sandwich wasn't a big hit, however. It comes on a brioche bun, not a traditional hoagie type roll. The Au jus dipping sauce was very watery and heavy in vinegar. We both had a draft beer. Her Miller Lite was cold, my Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, while good, was slightly colder than room temperature. Our friends had the same shrimp tacos and a 'Shroom Burger and were very pleased with their dishes. I give this an overall 4-star rating on most everything. It is a comfortable restaurant, has a lively bar, and offers patio seating.
Lagerhead Tavern is the weekly after golf dining place for my neighborhood golf group. The food, wait staff, management, bartender and ambience are all fantastic. Love this neighborhood gem!
