Pros Food was decent overall. The chicken alfredo pasta was good. The pork chops were a nice size, cooked well but could have used a little more seasoning. The gravy for the smothered pork chops could have been a little more creamy/smooth but the flavor/seasoning was good. The fried okra was good but the mac and cheese could have had more cheese. The shrimp had good flavor and were a nice size.
Cons I don't really understand the decor and esthetics of this establishment. Its set up more for like a bar atmosphere not a soul food kitchen or restaurant. They don't clean the restaurant. There was dust EVERYWHERE and the vent over our heads was pretty dirty. The chicken legs two of kids ordered weren't seasoned very well. I ordered the peach cobbler and it just tasted like peaches from out of the can with dough and they warmed it up in a microwave and brought it to me. I don't really see us going back there.

Kid-friendliness: As long as you don't have anyone drinking and getting rowdy, it's kids friendly and there is about four options for kids

MUST TRY!!! This little hidden gem is absolutely AMAZING! Everything was super fresh and the flavor will melt in your mouth! I can't believe I've lived here this long and have just now tried this place! Ordered a cheese quesadilla for the little one and then a fried chicken plate with macaroni and cheese, potato salad and a side of cornbread and old man. It is ya mamma food! April was very friendly a and a people pleaser! And the cook was just as great! Came out to help entertain my little one so I could eat dinner and brought him a little treat. I couldn't be more pleased with this place!!!

I can honestly say hands down they have the best food on hilton head island.

I make sure to stop by every time I come to hilton head. The prices are reasonable and the food is some of the best in the state.

This is definitely a hidden gem!

Amazing vibes! Amazing staff and great energy from Mama Joy. Food was great! Nice place to sit and eat! Amazing crispy chicken and really buttery Alfredo!

A quaint little spot for a quick meal. The food was what you would expect in a small tavern atmosphere.

Got the chicken sandwich with Mac N cheese. Very good food!! Pleasantly surprised. Had chicken sandwiches all over. These are top tier. I got the mild and it was just right.

Disappointed and everything that I have received nothing has any flavor they don’t give you condiments for your bags. It was a waste of time money and effort. Took an hour to get here from five minutes away. Do not recommend at all for it to be soul food restaurant Hollywood macaroni cheese taste like KFC Pork chop had no seasoning. The chicken tenders had no seasoning. The fries had no seasoning and they were oily There was no seasoning involved they put.

The food was good. The lady April that was working the bar had a horrible attitude. She was saying g that she did not get paid and she did not like her job. If she doesn’t like it there then she should get another job. She was cussing and throwing things. If I would’ve matched her energy it would’ve been a problem. Since she doesn’t like working there, do her a favor and let her go. I did not know taking food orders and making drinks was so difficult. Don’t keep people around who can potentially harm your business. April I hope you find a job that matches her skill set….whatever that may be because customer service is not it. It wasn’t our fault that the kitchen got our order wrong, she should’ve taken her frustration out on them. If we were the issue she could’ve been an adult and talked directly to us instead of complaining to the other customers. Just in case you don’t know who I’m talking about it was the older looking lady with the dark hair in a ponytail that had on the dingy gray hoodie on 13 October 2024. Thank you for your time.

Hands down- the best Soul Food Restaurant I’ve been to. The food is well seasoned. You can tell the cook/s has a passion for cooking. Everything that I’ve tried tastes delicious. You get value for your money!! This is my to go spot whenever I don’t cook -because Mama Joy’s Kitchen never disappoint. I Highly recommend!!

It's more of a bar than a place to eat had my granddaughter with us and I didn't think it was right for her we don't drink alcohol anymore
