My husband and I always visit the Sage Room when we're in Hilton Head. It's in an unassuming spot and can be difficult to find if you've never been there. It's worth the hunt! Fabulous food, service, and atmosphere. If you can, make reservations for the Chef's Table and watch the magic in the open kitchen. These chef's are amazing to watch! We brought another couple with us and they were very impressed. The beef short rib, filet, and sea bass are top sellers. I had the short rib and it was excellent. There is an extensive wine list and great cocktails. We had great service and you never feel rushed. I highly recommend.

Last night was our first time dining at the Sage Room after all these years of wanting to go there. We were celebrating my birthday. We told the hostess this before we arrived when we arrived and still the waitress had no knowledge of this when we sat down. We let the waitress know it was my birthday. The food came out quickly initially, but the shrimp was not very good and the French onion soup that we were so looking forward to was not as good as expected .
The waitress also forgot my sister’s appetizer salad. By the time she came back to the table for us to tell her this, we were already almost done and our dinner was coming, so we just said to skip it.
I had the halibut special which was $60 for a huge Piece of fish, which was a very good piece of fish. It was just too big and it had a weird breaded crust on it, which I couldn’t decide was an Asian dish or an Italian dish.
My husband had the Sage Room Benedict which he said was very good.
All of our food came out warm, not hot. I think the waitress forgot about us because we were in the back. She then came back to the table and asked us if we wanted dessert and we said no. She held up the menu and said are you sure you don’t want something for your birthday? We thought that she was offering a free dessert for my birthday but when we got the check, we saw that she charged us for the crème brûlée. Which was weird because we had told her we didn’t want anything initially.
Bottom Line is for $250 dinner for three people. We expected better service and better food.

I had my first dining experience here August 2025. The food and drinks are excellent. What a great place for a romantic dinner or nice evening out with friends. We sat at the Chef's counter, which we enjoyed, but would have preferred the attentiveness of a server for this caliber of meal at a table. I got the pork chop and my wife got the Sea bass. The food was excellent, we just were hoping for a bit more personal service that I think the Chef's counter makes it hard for a server to offer.

High-quality restaurant and friendly service. Great for a romantic dinner or “fancy” family outing. Had the Chilean Seabass, which was excellent. Great drinks and desserts too. Shoutout to that crème brûlée :)

We happened upon this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful experience we had. They had great offerings so we ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers, all were delicious! They have a very nice wine list as well. We went back another night for dessert martinis. Highly recommend this restaurant

Did not live up to expectations based on reviews. Caesar salad was old and wilted. Shrimp scampi was overwhelmed by a massive amount of capers. Halibut was undercooked and tasteless. Key lime tart was ok. Don't think we'll be back.

Updated: get the scallop entree!!🤤Very nice experience! Although pretty pricey. Would be great for a date night or anniversary dinner. The hostess was so amazingly friendly and helpful as was the bartender. Great martini. French onion soup with a goat cheese crostini definitely stole the show! Top three I’ve ever had and I’ve consumed quite a lot of French onion soup in my life! Flavor profile on the salad was very good although it was very overdressed. They were out of lamb which was disappointing, but the duck sub was perfectly cooked! The crème brûlée was lacking…something, can’t put my finger on it, but wasn’t bad persey, just had better. Overall a very good meal!
What an AMAZING dining experience! When we called for a reservation we were given the option of a regular table or a bar table with a view of the open kitchen. We chose a regular table as we were celebrating a birthday. Our server James started us by recommending some wonderful cocktails. He then went on to suggest and describe the presentation of the appetizers. We chose the crab cake and the tuna tatami; both were beyond delicious! For dinner I had the short rib which was fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about James or the food at Sage Room but I know I will definitely be coming back during my next visit to Hilton Head!

We have been coming to HH for years. I don’t know why we never came here to eat. I can say our first visit will not be our last visit. Our server, Kimberly was wonderful and the food was an A plus culinary experience. In addition, the atmosphere was suited for a high end meal. This restaurant is a grand slam.

The food was okay but way over priced. The server never asked us if anyone wanted a refill. The server was not at all attentive. The toilets needed some attention. We will not be going back.

The Sage Room is one of the only restaurants on Hilton Head Island that charges a 3.95% fee to use a credit card! They do not disclose this when making your reservation, or ordering. Beware!

We live in HHI and visit the Sage Room often and always have an amazing experience. Our server tonight was a robot, didn’t even give her name some blonde girl. It was a special anniversary dinner, #31 she didn’t even ask if we were here for anything special. Didn’t check on us even though I said we wanted to buy a bottle of wine. Our buss-boy was much more attentive. Still no follow up at our table and tip will reflect, very disappointing in such a reputable restaurant on Hilton Head and WE ARE LOCALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
