The experience was a little underwhelming. We went to dinner on Wednesday 6/25/25, my husband had enchiladas and I had shrimp tacos. It was good but our description while speaking to each other was very expensive Mexican food. We eat Mexican at home all the time, this meal was not worth three times the amount we normally pay. Maybe it’s the neighborhood, tourism I suppose can get away with the added expense.
Steak burrito gave me explosive diarrhea
Lived on the Island for many years and sometimes I forget how good Santa Fe is! My wife and I had a great meal the other night. The food was outstanding as well the service. We are going to make a habit of making this a regular spot again!
You have to order the grouper
Chicken tacos, Chimichanga, delicious! We also got drinks, beautiful soup, and key lime pie- very good!!
Food was good, fresh and flavorful, and good service but did not get to experience the atmosphere as we were sitting outside on a patio totally disconnected from the restaurant vibes. Recommend Chimichanga and shrimp tacos for sure. Little too pricey.
Great place for food and atmosphere!

Got in at a busy time, but our server Beth was on it. She made sure we had chips and salsa and drinks while she took care of other tables and we had time to decide what we wanted.
The food was amazing had the desert soup is a masterpiece. Always recommend the burrito. The chefs are out in the open and always smiling. This place is a vibe! Can’t wait to go back.

While the food is fantastic, this is the absolute worst service on the island. Everyone from the host, to the wait staff & the bartenders were rude & unaccommodating. It’s not a good look when you’re turning away customers with an empty dining room.

Some of the better food we had at HHI. The salsa is some of my favorite that I’ve had in awhile, really spectacular. I had the chicken fajitas and they were delicious. Service was very attentive. The hostess was incredibly pleasant both when we called to ask some questions and when she greeted & sat us! All around great experience.

Rooftop dining on Hilton Head is not common and a nicely appointed dining area earns 5 stars. Live music a real plus.
Service gets one star. Food gets 4 stars.
We were a party of five and two of the dinners came out about 3 minutes after the first three. We had to ask the server to check on it. It wasn’t that busy so she should have seen the issue and told us she was checking on it on her own.
It might be just me but I don’t care for empty dishes remaining on the table after the meal is finished. I’m not expecting them to be picked up immediately but within 5 minutes isn’t too unreasonable.
My margarita was very bland.
The meals themselves were good. Guacamole En Molcajete, Painted Desert Soup,
Santa Fe Plato Combination, and the Stuffed Portabella were stand-out dishes.
The rooftop ambience was great.
There are so many dining options on Hilton head Island I would be hard-pressed to come back to Santa Fe Café again.
