Great bakery! Coffee was excellent. We had a quiche and cheesy grits, which were also great! The staff were friendly and we got our food fast.

My family and I were in HHI for my husband’s birthday… it was important for us to have a beautiful and delicious cake and this sweet lady delivered the best!! The Purple Cow makes THE BEST treats on Hilton Head! They are made to order and absolutely delicious. Pick up is simple & convenient. Highly recommend including ordering something sweet from Bernie during your visit to Hilton Head!

They ran out of donuts before we got here so we had to "settle" for the rest of their baked goods. Holy crap did they not disappoint! I am not sure how they squeezed so many amazing flavors into everything else but I highly recommend everything especially the apple berry pie!

The Purple Cow is unique from all other bakeries and pastries sold on the island. The owner not only makes the most (baked, not fried) delicate and delicious treats, but she engages with her customers, connecting with them by going out of her way to genuinely get to know them. I appreciate her telling us her story. Each sweet treat sold is done so with love and passion. So, next time we visit the island, we will make this the first stop onto the island and the last stop before leaving.

My husband and I are vegan and it is hard to find bakeries that know how to bake quality, delicious vegan goodies. Well, The Purple Cow are professionals! They made us the most amazing vegan donuts that we enjoyed on our vacation to Hilton Head. I wish they were local, I would go here all the time! This is a MUST visit establishment, whether you are vegan or not. They have something for everyone!

Absolutely delicious! There was an issue with our order and the owner made it right and did so quickly. Really worth getting up early for! Also you can place your order ahead of time the day before, which I definitely recommend. Just so delicious and with vegan and gluten free options, there's literally something for everyone!

Best cheesecake on the planet! Highly recommend the pumpkin cheesecake, but all are very good, pricey but well worth it!
We made a pretty last minute wedding cake order. Just a small 2-tier cake that would feed about 30 people. We asked for a vegan lemon raspberry cake and it was delicious! Thank you so much!

Amazing vegan donuts!!! So delicious and so many customizable options. Just be sure to put in your order via email the night before because by 8:30 am they were already mostly sold out of the ones they'd made for the store. Their soymilk lattes were also good.

After visiting the beach for the sunrise, we stopped here to grab a few things before heading back to the hotel. The donuts are cake donuts, so they are a little dense and a little bit on the dry side. However, it's the variety of toppings that made this place worth a visit. We got a box with six different kinds. Regardless of which flavor we got, they were all very delicious and they didn't last very long. Would definitely come back.

I really want to like this place, but I leave feeling disappointed every time. I've now attempted to go twice. The 1st time was a year ago. I waited in line for over 30 minutes and remember it being good, but a long wait. The last time I went in, there were 4 small groups in front of me. It took me over 25 minutes to get to the front of the line and by then they were out of donuts (it was 8:45am). Ok, so lesson learned - go early, I guess. However, I knew they were low on donuts. I heard them say to the group at the front of the line that more donuts would be ready in 20 minutes...but when I got to the front 25 minutes later, I was told the same thing - no donuts unless I want to wait 20 minutes. I understand that they are short staffed and the staff that was there looked to be about 14. So I was patient. I was friendly. I was upset, but calmly ordered a baked good instead. The baked good was fine. Here's my take away - I love small businesses, and I want to support small business owners, but I don't think I'll be returning to the Purple Cow. For me it's just not worth the wait. I'm obviously a tourist. I assume the place is lovely and full of donuts in the off season - so if you're a local I hope you have a better experience during a slower time.
