I figured since I am waiting so long for seating and service I should leave a live review.
First, the “join the waitlist” process does not appear to be efficient. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:43 a.m. and joined as number six in line. Shortly after 10:00 a.m., our party of five had moved to the top of the waitlist. However, we observed parties of two, five, and seven being seated at larger tables ahead of us. If our party was shown as number one on the waitlist, it is unclear why other groups were accommodated first at tables that could have fit our family.
We were seated approximately 50 minutes after joining the waitlist. Once at our table, there was an additional 10-minute delay before anyone came by to greet us or take a drink order. Typically, a server will offer water immediately upon seating, but that was not the case here. Fortunately, we placed our food order along with our drinks to avoid any further delays.
When our meal arrived, it was served before our drinks, which was unexpected. Additionally, the waffle we ordered was missing the whipped cream it was supposed to include, and we had to request syrup separately. On a positive note, the coffee and Bloody Mary were very good, and the rest of the food was satisfactory.
Overall, the experience was not one that will have us coming back.

Half of our common breakfast food was inedible. Strawberries were bitter, sausage rock hard and over cooked, French toast was way over cooked and hard. Asked to speak to a manager and all she did was give us a coupon for our next visit and said “ what do you want me to do about it?” Rather rudely. We will never be back!!

Went for breakfast and ordered two classic egg breakfast and eggs Benedict. The eggs Benedict were hard in the center the English muffins were barely toasted. The waitress didn’t come back to check on our meal, I asked another waitress to please get our waitress to come back. We asked for a new Benedict meal and she said she would check if she could do that. We waited a while and they returned with new eggs and not the entire dish. Everything was cold by then. I asked for the manager and was told she was too busy. I told her I wanted a new Benedict plate and they said they wouldn’t be able to do that. They only offered a discount on the plate. I refused to pay for the plate. I paid for the other two meals and complained to the manager on the way out the door and she seemed not to be concerned about problem. We won’t be returning to this restaurant, and had to go elsewhere so my wife could get a meal.

It all came down to a poor server. Not giving our order right. And omelette with for ingredients, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions. Lots of mushrooms, lots of peppers no sausage, no onion.
I will say the hashbrowns were awesome. The eggs Benedict my friend had was great. But not getting a sugar-free caramel in my iced coffee, and my friend having to ask for sugar, the kind in the white package, not the brown package. Just may be kind of shake my head.
I’ve heard great reviews and willing to give it a try again later this week.

My husband and I came here to have breakfast one of the mornings during our getaway at Hilton Head Island. It was just 10–12 minutes from the Omni resort where we stayed. Soooooo good! The food was delicious. Prepared perfectly. My husband and I ordered the biscuits and gravy, the traditional Benedict and one Belgian waffle & we split everything. There wasn’t a single bite left on the plates when we were done. The food was exceptional. The coffee was amazing and it’s just a very quiet & stress free place to have breakfast… Will definitely be back when we are here again. Thank you Watusi Cafe!

Our adult kids recommended this place and it lived up to everything they said about it. We loved their wonderful, healthy options. We went there 3 days in a row and ordered something different each visit and they were all so delicious! Even though they have many coffee options, I loved their smoothies. This is a great place to go to for breakfast and/or lunch!

This is a very happy little place to have an amazing breakfast on the island.
Recommended to eat here by family. We ordered to-go for 3 people and all three breakfast dishes had bad avocado and bacon missing plus the bananas were brown. Great service otherwise. Make sure you check your order before you leave!

I came here twice for breakfast, and had an excellent experience both times. Both visits, our waitress Aimee was top-notch, very friendly and well spoken. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was AMAZING, and the gluten free options are plentiful!
During our second visit, it should not go unnoticed that despite dealing with some difficult customers seated next to us, Aimee was able to remain friendly, professional, and patient, all while still making sure my wife and I had excellent service. We will be back!
