We visit this restaurant every time we stay on HHI. We always have a wonderful meal here. This time was no exception and our server, Sherrae, was outstanding! 10/10
Really great brunch spot! All the food we had tasted great and was really fresh. (hash, chicken avocado wrap, chicken sandwich, waffle). I wish I could remember her name but our server was awesome and all the staff were very kind! I also enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere/ music they played
The front of the restaurant was nice and had a gift shop with cool things however I went there for breakfast and was highly disappointed. I waited over 25 minutes for French toast. It arrived barely warm. I ordered a side of sausage and it seemed a bit under cooked and it was tough. I only ate one out of fear I may get sick from it. The waitress was not friendly at all and said she wasn't supposed to be working in the morning but she was there anyway. She stumbled to say her name as if she forgot her own name.
They messed up my friend's order and took over 10 mins to bring out the corrected dish. I would not recommend this place and don't understand how they have so many other great reviews. I absolutely would not return.

I dislike leaving negative reviews but was Severly disappointed. We purposely went at a later time to avoid waiting. I was excited based on the reviews and perhaps should have just bought patries. We were sat earlier than expected, but everything else was lacking. The service was slow and robotic. The avocado toast had a dressing smothered over it, and when they ran out of microgreens, they replaced it with spinach BUT didn't check first to ensure there weren't allergies. The French Toast and Avocado toast took over 20 minutes to make? The 6 top beside us seated more than 10 minutes later received their food at the same time. When it was discovered the dressing (a basil sauce?) contained milk, the meal had to be sent back; no real apology or offering was made. 12 minutes later, the new meal came out covered in chive. If you have allergies, want personality from your waiter, or expect a decent timeframe for your meal, please avoid this restaurant.
My wife and I tried this place for the first time after we passed by it after church. Atmosphere is cute. I got the blackened shrimp hash and my wife got the biscuits and gravy. Both had generous portions and are a good price for quantity of food. Both dishes were phenomenal. Everything was cooked to perfection. We will be coming back and trying this place in the future and highly recommend it to anyone on the island.
Really cool little breakfast cafe! Nice place to visit for good food and relaxing morning! Will be going back here in the future when we revisit for vacation!
Edit: we have been back most every year. The food and service remains great!! They have grown, with a coffee and gift shop type area as well as some outdoor seating, but excellent place to have breakfast! Pancakes are huge, and kids Mickey pancake is a fun option for the small ones!
We spent a week on Hilton Head, and we visited Watusi at least four times during that week; it was very close to where were staying. We dined in for breakfast once, and got takeout coffee and muffins and scones the other times. The coffee was great, and the people there are very nice.
Latte was basically steamed milk and food was alright - very greasy
First timer at Watusi, the food and drinks were really good!
Enjoy!

AMAZING gluten free breakfast options! The waffle and breakfast burrito were so good, you couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. Would go back for sure!

We were very excited to try this place since they had good reviews for the gluten free waffles and pancakes.
PROS: Gluten free waffle was great! A bit dense, but still good (GF is currently +$2.50, real maple syrup is also +$2.50, and fruit topping is +$3.00). Sausage patties were excellent! Decent lattes (the small only comes with one shot of espresso). Decor is nice, cheery place. Good atmosphere, outdoor seating as well. Nice outdoor seating as well.
CONS: Unfortunately not fully staffed, resulting in long waits and employees doubling up on responsibilities (and on a Saturday morning of all times!). Due to this, harder for staff to be friendly (they weren't). I promise we are not picky, both of us have been servers in the past and we get it, but noticeably lackluster service. As former wait staff, we picked up on things that made it clear this started from the top down. In our opinion the issues here stem from mediocre management & not creating a good work atmosphere. Chick-fil-A proves it can be done lol ?.
Just a heads up, no orders automatically come with real maple syrup included (only aunt jemima style syrup). It'll be an additional+$2.25 for real maple syrup.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free waffles, gluten free pancakes, both are also vegan, and potato based Benedict (making it gluten free).
